A Los Angeles-area lawyer bribed agents from the FBI and ICE to provide protection, for him, with one scouring law enforcement databases to warn him of ongoing investigations, while the other cooked the books to help a client and a relative with immigration matters, according to a plea agreement filed in federal court this week.
Edgar Sargsyan, the 39-year-old lawyer, also admitted he and an accomplice also took out credit cards in the names of foreigners whod come to the U.S. on travel visas, then charged hundreds of thousands of dollars to their accounts.
He agreed to plead guilty to five felony counts ranging from conspiracy to commit bank fraud to bribing a public official to lying to investigators.
But authorities last week charged former FBI Agent Babak Broumand with conspiracy to commit bribery, accusing him of accepting cash and gifts from a Los Angeles-area lawyer. The details of the two cases appear to match up particularly the allegation that Mr. Sargsyan paid $36,000 at a Ducati dealership for a motorcycle and accessories for the FBI agent. The same purchase shows up in the criminal information filed against Mr. Broumand.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Mr. Sargsyan worked with Lev Aslan Dermen, whom they described as a reputed organized crime figure.
The FBI agent was paid up to $10,000 a month, treated to lavish hotel stays and the Ducati motorcycle to scour federal law enforcement databases and spot ongoing investigations. He would then warn Mr. Sargsyan to stay away from certain people.
Mr. Sargsyan says the HSI agent was paid at least $77,000 to scour databases in order to help the lawyers associates.

FBI Agent Babak Broumand
I can just imagine.
The Federal Bureau of Incrimination And Sedition (FBIAS) needs to be disbanded.
They have proven they are untrustworthy in spades.
The FBI provided protection for organized crime figure Whitey Bulger in Boston. This is what they do. They protect crooks, they harass law-abiding citizens.
And it’s not just “rotten at the top”. It’s fricken’ all of them.
FBI Agent Babak Broumand
I can just imagine.

Diversity is our strength.
Hey, who doesn’t have a buddy from high school named “Babak”.
After World War 2, the United States sought to model all of it’s various spook agencies on the Gestapo, Stasi and KGB, because those terrifying socialists knew how to keep their pesky citizens in check.
Well, I hope they put those agents on indefinite paid administrative leave. That’ll learn ‘em.
FBI = Robert Mueller in this case.
The FBI is the institutionalized, officially-sanctioned version of the Mafia.
Have we not already had enough FBI fraud?
It seems like it’s time to shutter this FBI and start another with polygraphing of all applicants to detect corrupt cops.
Will Hannuty still proclaim the rank and file FBI are good, honest and hard working people?
Hannity licks establishment ass crack.
Remember when we couldnt cast the FBI as corrupt because that would include badge carrying agents? We had to aim at management, the 7th floor of headquarters. Well, well. A culture of corruption.
“...took out credit cards in the names of foreigners whod come to the U.S. on travel visas, then charged hundreds of thousands of dollars to their accounts....”
How do you get CCs with hundreds of thousands of dollars limits?
Remember - the FBI and DOJ permanent, unchanging DC bureaucrats who work there are merely unbiased and highly professional civil servants, tasked to protect the Constitution and carry out the tasks required by the law. Thats all
Repeat that 10 times, and you will feel better.
So many so-called government workers are Integrity free bums who are waiting around for their pensions and benefits. If you want to talk and non-essential take a look at many government workers.
A pattern of bad apples is concerning in a law enforcement organization, but thousands of agents are nothing but honorable. And let me guess, if they are truly honorable theyll turn in the bad ones. How is an agent stationed in say, Florida, responsible for the behavior of an agent in California that he has never met or worked with? Should the agents who deployed alongside Delta to capture Nazih al-Ruqai in Tripoli also be keeping tabs on FBI agents in Los Angeles?
If the so called “good” agents are so good, why haven’t we heard of them turning in the bad ones and seeing criminal charges being filed on the bad ones? This is why I’ am not buying the rank and file bs, they would have corrected the problem, but all we see if them making excuses for them.
You may be right, but the bad behavior continues because the penalties and punishment are not sufficient to retard that behavior.
