How the COVID-19 Pandemic Could End
Scientific American ^ | April 28, 2020 | Lydia Denworth

Posted on 04/28/2020 5:14:28 PM PDT by MinorityRepublican

We know how the COVID-19 pandemic began: Bats near Wuhan, China, hold a mix of coronavirus strains, and sometime last fall one of the strains, opportunistic enough to cross species lines, left its host or hosts and ended up in a person. Then it was on the loose.

What no one knows yet is how the pandemic will end. This coronavirus is unprecedented in the combination of its easy transmissibility, a range of symptoms going from none at all to deadly, and the extent that it has disrupted the world. A highly susceptible population led to near exponential growth in cases. “This is a distinct and very new situation,” says epidemiologist and evolutionary biologist Sarah Cobey of the University of Chicago.

But past pandemics do offer hints of the future. While there is no one historical example to follow, humanity has gone through several large epidemics in the past 100 or so years that eventually stopped ravaging society. The ways they came to a halt offer guidance to a world looking for ways to restore health and some sense of normalcy. Three of those experiences, Cobey and other experts say, suggest that what happens next depends on both the evolution of the pathogen and of the human response to it, both biological and social.

Yes, “we know” how it began

Never fear.

When this one fades away, they’ll release another one.

They’re blaming BATS for this? That’s Batist!

It’s going to end with a WHIMPER, not a BANG, when the Leftists realize that despite all of their collusion, it didn’t take out President Trump. :)

I believe so also. They had too much success with this one.

There is one medical goal with this virus, immunity, but three ways to reach it as a society:

1) Open everything up and let all who will get infected catch the virus (Sweden is trying that, it's called herd immunity; it would definitely solve the SS shortfall problem looming)

2) Keep everything locked down and wait until a vaccine is proven to yield immunity (and even an effective vaccine is only about sixty percent effective in yielding immunity on an individual basis; plus vaccines have scary side effects and this one coming will have a Gates data dot for everyone who gets it side effect)

3) Make a drug cocktail like HCQ + Doxycycline + zinc supplementation available (without restriction to hospitals only), so every physician and physician's assistant can write the scripts at first sign of a symptom and open the nation up to go back to being GREAT.

Since it is the human body immune system which defeats any virus that is defeated, reducing the viral load and keeping inflammation down is the best way to give the immune system a shot at developing immunity.

Hydroxychloroquine appears to have two sides to its efficacy: a) the drug has been proven as an inflammation reducer (used in RA and Lupus, and now with covid patients to reduce their airway inflammation); b) Hydroxychloroquine is a proven ionophore, ferrying ZINC into the infected cells where ZINC works to stop the viral replication thus reducing viral load.

So which of the three ways to have immunity in a society do you think the globalist oligarchy has in mind for America? And which of the three means to immunity do you think saves people and the last great hope for humanity, America?

smart bats.

smart enough to use pangolins to make their
warfare Atrocity.

and smart enough to patent it. smart bats.

AND they got Gates and Soros to fund them.
Were Gates and Soros given a position on the bats’ Board?

What a weak and useless article. There’s nothing in there a well-read FReeper doesn’t know. That shell of an article should be a complete embarrassment to Scientific American. Are all articles in the magazine now similarly shallow and on the level of Popular Science or People Mag?

Do I need to read something from Scientific Antifican to know what they say?

I'm sure that if we allow transgendered men to participate in the Olympics, if we provide reparations to Blacks, if we provide everybody with UBI, and if we replace all refineries with wind powered solar panels then COVID-19 will see that we have achieved a sufficient level of progressivity and will go back to the bat cave.

Lydia Denworth is a Brooklyn, N.Y.– based science writer, a contributing editor for Scientific American, and author of Friendship: The Evolution, Biology, and Extraordinary Power of Life’s Fundamental Bond

More from her website:

A native of Philadelphia and graduate of Princeton, I moved to Brooklyn right out of college and have considered it home ever since even though I have also lived in France, London and Hong Kong. . . .

No mention of degree, medical credentials, advanced degrees, anything

So here we have a “writer” opining on the “beginnings” and of course, buying the line it was a bat transmission

Good grief what utter BS

It ends the same way the annual flu “pandemic” ends: with a whimper. And then we go on with our lives.

I think the oligarchy opts for the best way to gain total world dominion - that would be choice #2, Wink...

I am not sure it does fully end. Vaccines will be developed but may not kill all strains that mutate etc. Probably be a battle from now on.

Here in Georgia most state-mandated restrictions have been lifted. Certain businesses still need to encourage customers to “socially distance,” but I expect that’ll go away as we learn more about how non-dangerous this virus really is. Testing will provide the data to dissipate the fear, in my opinion.

more from the article:

“...Ultimately, in most cases, antibodies developed by the immune system to fight off the invader linger in enough of the affected population to confer longer-term immunity and limit person-to-person viral transmission. But that can take several years, and before it happens, havoc reigns.
...
A technique to screen for SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibodies, an indicator of immunity in recovered patients, could also prove very useful. Krammer and his colleagues have developed one such test, and there are others. Previously used only in local epidemics, these new serological assays won’t end the pandemic, but they could make it possible to spot and use antibody-rich blood as a treatment for critically ill patients; more certainly, the tests will also get people back to work faster if those who fought off the virus and are immune can be identified.

article claims people who had it are immune.
