Poll: Georgians back shelter-in-place, oppose rollback of restrictions
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | 4/28/20 | Greg Bluestein

A broad majority of Georgia voters support a statewide shelter-in-place to combat the spread of the coronavirus, according to a University of Georgia survey released as Gov. Brian Kemp debates whether to extend stay-at-home orders set to expire Thursday night.

The survey found about one-half of registered Georgia voters support the mandate that took effect April 3, and an additional one-quarter of voters “somewhat back it.” Only about 10% of Georgians oppose the idea; the rest are neutral or undecided.

And roughly 62% of Georgia voters disapprove of Kemp’s decision to ease restrictions on restaurants, theaters and close-contact businesses such as barbershops and nail salons over the past week, a measure that was strongly criticized by Democratic leaders, prominent local mayors and President Donald Trump.

I’m not sure how you could say this, and be a Christian.

God appoints our rulers, and whether or not they are acting of their own interests, in the end, they act in God’s interest. They have too, there isn’t a choice.

Basically, the current situation can only break down to two scenarios:

(1) God is royally mad at us and ready to chunk us out of a airlock into deep space.
(2) He is pushing our leaders, in whatever manner makes sense to God (because we are not God), to do the right thing.

Either way, God is in control. Since he has not sent an official angelic announcement to each Christian (and He would need too in today’s environment, to get our attention — -and guess what, he could), I have to believe we are “getting what we paid for”, whether it is judgement or protection, or possibly even a combination of both!

For folks to even insinuate our leaders are not in the end doing God’s will, is tantamount to blasphemy.

Life is simple

If you are a small business owner and don’t feel it’s safe to open - don’t open.

If you are an individual and don’t feel it’s safe to go out - don’t go out.

I agree...Some people are just too afraid to make a decision ... They are happy to follow directions from the government officials...They are happy to listen to politicians and stay home... They are afraid of making a “wrong” decision... They don’t want to held responsible for their own decisions...

I live North of Atlanta and believe this to be true. If you go online on a local website the insanity of staying locked down in the name of “safety” is the prevailing opinion and anyone advocating going out or opening everything up is seen as endangering others’ safety. Most comments were critical of Kemp’s decision. Its kind of disturbing to see how easily our society can be manipulated to the point of self destruction.

Somehow I missed that section in my bible. Is that from the version written by Karl Marx? I thought that was called the Communist Manifesto.

Re: 37 - THANK YOU for posting that question - I was just getting ready to.

What does that tell you? It tells me that 62% of the respondents have not either lost their job or are working less hours.

And my guess is that the 62% are some of the some people that continue to favor a shelter-in-place.

The original lockdown end date in my state WAS April 30.

And for me, it still is.

That’s as far as I go.

Part of the problem with the South now esp. Atlanta is that it has been overrun with foreign nationals and yankee liberals.

This is exactly right. Over 60% are still benefiting from the economy whether by not loosing their job or working more hours which means more money to them. And the percent who are working more hours they might loose the extra hours once this virus goes away.

Online poll of registered voters. Not the best methodology.

So, there is nothing to the designation “Lord of the World”?

We pray for our leaders and we pray God’s Will be done. There are battles beyond our ken with principalities and powers, after all. Leviathan is also at work.

Do you actually believe ALL our so-called *leaders* end doing God’s Will? Abortion? Treason? Perversion? God wants us to learn a lesson from those behaviors? By that logic, communism can’t come soon enough and we should pray for it.

How many are sitting on “free money” from the government.

Sure, inflate away my pension, social security, savings.

How ‘bout we stop the handouts and see how many want to stay home.

My GA gym was scheduled to reopen on May 1. Then the Karens burned up the gym’s phone lines/FB page. Now my gym has decided to remain closed and “reassess” on May 15. I’ve been called a murderer for being irked.

The Karens in my county are absolutely loving this - their lives finally have purpose. One suggested that we shouldn’t consider reopening until July at the earliest (with no logic behind that date). Sadly, I’m sure that many others agree. I’m beyond fed up.

Ask this question and I bet the poll would be a lot more wanting to open up.

If social distancing is followed and safe guidelines are adhered to as business re-open. Do you favor businesses reopening and allowing people to feed their families?
