Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden leads President Trump in a new national poll that shows a reversal in the race amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Forty-four percent of respondents in the USA Today–Suffolk University poll said they backed the former vice president, while 38 percent said they supported Trump.
The last USA Today–Suffolk poll showed Trump leading Biden by 3 points in December 2019. Biden was in the middle of a crowded presidential primary late last year, while Trump was dealing with the House impeachment inquiry into his past conversations with the president of Ukraine.

How does one back a candidate who is not visible and says nothing? I guess you could say we have a very dumbed-down society if this poll is accurate which I do not believe it is.

How long will Biden remain the candidate?
Do these people think that we all fell off a turnip truck. Joe Biden can’t put together two consecutive complete sentences, and he is leading Trump in a poll. This is the same crap they fed Hillary and she bought it. She like Biden stayed home while Trump did the heavy lifting and got rewarded for his effort.
After the first Biden Q&A in a debate, his numbers will sink like an anchor.
If one hates Trump and blames him for all evil that has befallen us, it is not irrational to vote for his opponent, whoever that might be, but especially if it is a known quantity.
This is unhelpful for two reasons.
1. I think Suffolk is pretty good so this is not great news.
2. This will encourage Democrats and members of the “resistance” (but I repeat myself) to drag out the crisis as long as possible
On the other hand, it could be good:
If polls show Biden can really win (while no one is actually seeing Biden), the Democrats will be less motivated to swap him out. If they keep him (let’s hope) then the tide will turn in October when people see what he’s like now.

Good question.
I recall that Hillary tended to have much higher poll numbers, when she was not in elective office, and out of the country a lot as Sec. of State. When she ran for president, both times, her poll numbers fell the more people saw of her.
With Joe out of sight, he’s not losing support for saying and doing stupid things, as he might when he gets out there and actually campaigns again.
