Trump Managing To Put Democrats In Political Corner

The Democrats are taking their stand on the coronavirus crisis in an untenable position. It is like building a defensive redoubt in a valley surrounded by hills in the hands of the enemy (like the French at Dien Bien Phu in 1955, as President Eisenhower warned them). Whether this is tactical stupidity by the president’s enemies or strategic genius by the president or — more likely — a bit of both, is not clear except to insiders.

Readers will recall that the Democrats charged out of the gate on the issue of taking science seriously and reacting comprehensively; the president picked up the gauntlet, brought prominent scientists forward, and “flattened the curve.” The Democrats wallowed in glee at the almost instant increase (in a month in fact) of unemployment by almost 30 million.

It has been a severe crisis, but most of its severity has been the consequence of the panic generated by the irresponsible media, who thought they might destroy the Trump presidency at last.

They have failed again, and this is not such a watershed moment. In a few months, everything will be largely back to what it was within the United States. The big changes will be geopolitical: the mystique of the inexorable rise of China will be very faded, and the remaining credibility of the concept of the European Union will be in tatters.

Mr. Trump wins the political chess game at home in a clean sweep: the medical crisis, the financial rescue, the rebound of the economy, and at the voting places of the nation. And he will be the winner in the world. China and Europe have long been billed as rivals to the United States as the world’s most powerful government and population. We will hear less of that.

Me too..it's going to be a very difficult up hill climb for Trump, the senate and the rest of the republicans seeking office!! I'm not liking what I'm hearing and reading. The economy is in shambles and folks are discouraged with this never ending lockdown and trump's constant fight with the mediaVOMITS..they'll never ever going to change their tune and be favorable to him...they're there to KILL HIM OFF politically!! Trump should have bypassed the demon mediapukes and had teleconference meetings with the American people who had lots of good questions not gotcha stupid questions! He should have had a round table with LOTS of doctors briefings not just that globalist Gates buttboy fauci and the scarf queen! They literally singlehandedily dug trump's political grave if things don't change fast before November. Also the briefings have been a disaster by design by the China run mediapukes to make trump look incompetent!!! Whoever is giving him advice behind the scenes is not doing him any favors! When the rats are not paying a political price at this moment for the acts against the American people during this horrendous time tells me the voting block are not happy AT ALL with those at the top. Can you say Jimmy Carter redux....I pray not but it's scary!!

Here again, President Trump has acted wisely in leaving these decisions with the governors and creating conditions where Democratic governors like Gavin Newsom in California and even Andrew Cuomo in New York will have to break ranks with the national Democratic leaders. They are working now on their last plausible scenario for salvaging the presidential election, while the governors have their own voters’ welfare to serve.

This has also been my argument for repealing the 17th amendment.

Substitute "governors" with "legislatures" and you get the same effect.

The checkmate in this move is Democrat states going bankrupt. Let them die and wither on the vine. Obama’s stimulus package went to the states as shovel ready jobs. In reality, it went to propping up state pensions.

I stopped reading at the remark about the French being at Dien Bien Phu in 1955. For crying out loud, the battle of Dien Bien Phu was fought between March and May of 1954!
