Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) argued the coronavirus that hit New York state did not come from China but Europe, probably Italy he said. At his Friday coronavirus press briefing, Cuomo said President Trump's China travel ban was too late and the horse had long left the barn. "Researchers now find and they report in some newspapers, the virus was spreading wildly in Italy in February and there was an outbreak, massive outbreak in Italy in February," Cuomo said. "Researchers now say there were likely 28,000 cases in the United States in February, including 10,000 cases in the state of New York and the Coronavirus flu virus that came to New York, did not come from China. It came from Europe." "When you look at the number of flights that came from Europe to New York, the New York metropolitan area, New York and New Jersey during January, February, up to the close down, 13,000 flights bringing 2.2 million people," he said. "All right. So November, December you have the outbreak in China. Everybody knows." "We acted two months after the China outbreak," the governor said. "When you look back, does anyone think the virus was still in China waiting for us to act two months later? We all talk about the global economy and how fast people move and how mobile we are. Can you expect that when you act two months after the outbreak in China, the virus was only in China waiting for us to act? The horse had already left the barn by the time we moved." GOV. ANDREW CUOMO: Last November, December, we knew that China had a virus outbreak. You could read about it in the newspapers, right? Everybody knew. January 26, we know we had the first confirmed case in Seattle, Washington, and California.

So king cuomo virus expert... Such an ass
So did Cuomo cordon off NY State from Chinese or Italians flying in back in January?
I thought same thing!!
What a buffoon Fredos brother is!!
Thanks for posting that.
The virus from China had a layover in Italy.
That clears up the mystery then, it wasn’t China eleven time zones to the west, it was China thirteen time zones to the east.
"I can handle things! I'm smart!"
Cuomo? Presidential timber?......hardly.
A murderer of old folks would be more likely.
Film, and the full story in "Breaking News" at Eleven!
Meanwhile, under Cuomo:

And people say his brother Fredo is the stupid one.
How does the drooling moron think it got to Europe? And when Trump saw that the Chicoms had spread their stink and pestilence to Europe, he banned travel from there as well.
I suspect flights from Italy carrying Chinese-American citizens carried the virus through the Laguardia Airport. When President Trump restricted Chinese travel, they went from China to Italy and boarded planes to the U.S.
So why Andrew, did you wait until March 20th to shutdown NYS??
excerpt: probably Italy he said.
and where did the virus in Italy come from? China. never mind Cuomo has made all the FakeNewsMSM with this latest get-Trump rubbish. if there really were a serious pandemic, all these political games would not be happening...at least not to the degree thay have been so far, it being a presidential election year.
who did the research?
24 Apr: Daily Mail: Coronavirus spread silently through cities including New York, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco and Seattle in February when the world was focused only on China, new study claims
Research by Northwestern University estimates that 28,000 people across five major cities were infected when only 23 cases had been confirmed
They based their research on population density, travel habits in each of the cities and when they were placed in lockdown
The researchers say New York City likely had more than 10,000 cases when only one had been detected
If correct, it means the fatality rate is far lower than the current estimate of around five percent
By Jennifer Smith
Their estimates were shared by The New York Times on Thursday and paint a worrying picture of how far behind the US was in responding to the threat...
They base their research on the number of people traveling to the US, especially New York, from China and Europe in the weeks before travel was suspended by President Trump...
***It is unclear how exactly they reached their estimates or how accurate it is.

31 Aug 2014: Science Mag: Disease modelers project a rapidly rising toll from Ebola
By Kai Kupferschmidt
***Alessandro Vespignani hopes that his latest work will turn out to be wrong. In July, the physicist from Northeastern University in Boston started modeling how the deadly Ebola virus may spread in West Africa. Extrapolating existing trends, the number of the sick and dying mounts rapidly from the current tollmore than 3000 cases and 1500 deathsto about 10,000 cases by 24 September, and hundreds of thousands in the months after that. The numbers are really scary, he saysalthough he stresses that the model assumes control efforts aren’t stepped up. “We all hope to see this NOT happening,” Vespigani writes in an e-mail...

26 Apr: Northeastern University: The coronavirus was in the US in January. We need to understand how we missed it.
by Laura Castañón
But SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, was already circulating in major U.S. cities, according to Alessandro Vespignani, Sternberg Family distinguished university professor, who directs Northeasterns Network Science Institute...
The discovery that the virus was already circulating in the U.S in January comes from a model that Vespignani and his colleagues have been using to study and predict the global spread of the virus. The model relies on human mobility and patterns of interaction, as well as the infection dynamics of the virus.
The model allows us to go into what we call the invisible stage of the epidemic in the United States, Vespignani says. We can simulate the arrival of infected people that were starting local transmission chains.

Research that the group released last month (LINK) shows that the cordoning off of cities within China, as well as travel restrictions implemented by countries around the globe, came too late. The coronavirus was already out.
