It’s the turd..i mean 3rd world model. They make enough money from the half starved peasants so they can maintain their opulent lifestyles they have become accustom to.
I know a State worker who gets paid , full hrly wage , just for being ‘on standby’ while at work on another full time job. He thinks it’s great and there are doubtless 1000’s just like him. What about the rest ? Laid off and locked down? Waiting for unemployment to be released from a UI system that is totally overwhelmed , nearly collapsed and impossible to communicate with

And when May 25th rolls around it will be extended until June 15th!

I am pretty convinced President Trump does not think much of Hawaii . This place has been disrespectful and troublesome to him since day one . Ige’s own State AG was the one to 1st quickly file suit against Trump over his new immigration policies ( muz from certain nations) and much of the Trump hating population here supported the Chinese-American AG in that . I don’t blame him if he has decided to let this State ‘go pound sand’ . The government here is disloyal to the nation , as are many of the people.
I knew of a few state drones that got paid no matter what and ran side businesses while on the clock.
All common knowledge and OK if you were a member of the club.
Heaven help you if you weren’t (like me and most) a member and dared to even mention you had a sideline that was after hours and not related. The club liked playing the kingmaker.
I went about my life anyway. The worst the management could do was fire me.
In Hawaii they are still scarred by the Haolis bringing smallpox to their paradise. I’ve read stories of vacationers being roughed up. Not quite a paradise if you want to visit one of your 50 states right now.

Yeah—I am a bonafide “Fearper” but Hawaii has solved 95% of the problem by keeping tourists out.
They should be able to open up with masks with minimal consequences.
This is the easiest scenario there is—keep tourists out, let the locals be....
