The Plan to Completely Destroy Nevada’s Economy
American Thinker.com ^ | April 26, 2020 | Norman Rogers

Posted on 04/26/2020 5:33:27 AM PDT by Kaslin

Nevada, like no other state, is totally dependent on tourism. If tourism dies, the state will die. The Democrat governor, Steve Sisolak, is doing his best to kill Nevada. Sisolak seems to be driven more by a lack of clear thinking rather than malicious intent.

Sisolak’s plan is to place most state residents under what amounts to house arrest. In order to discourage anyone from leaving their house he is attempting to make leaving home as unpleasant as possible. Parks are closed, or if that is impossible, at least the bathrooms are closed. He is even attempting to close the vast desert that surrounds Las Vegas, blocking off roads and trails. All businesses are required to close except for “essential” businesses like grocery stores. The schools are closed, making it difficult for parents to work because they have to care for their children.

The entire tourist industry has been shut down. The Las Vegas strip, usually crowded with tourists staying in some of the 150,000 hotel rooms, is completely deserted.

Tourism is the base of Nevada’s economy. Hundreds of thousands of tourist industry workers have been laid off. The state unemployment benefits office is apparently helpless in the face of the flood of applicants.

The governor sees this as a medical problem. It does not seem to bother him that destroying the Nevada economy will devastate the citizens of Nevada. Not only will they lose their jobs, they will also lose their savings and assets.

What exactly is the purpose of the house arrest? The disease is going to spread through the population until enough people are recovered and immune, so that herd immunity develops, and the virus fades away. That is the typical pattern for the spread of a new disease.

I quit watching the news about a month ago. Unfortunately, my wife turned the TV on a few days ago and there was a local TV news idiot, smiling as he declared that Clay County Mo. health was extending lockdown till 15th May, he even repeated it with a grin, that’s the 15th not the 4th. Fortunately, his declaration wasn’t even correct as they had revised it the night before and things will reopen on the 4th.

All over the country, these media idiots are all in for a complete lockdown of everything, not realizing they are paid by advertisers, who don’t advertise if they are bankrupt.

Mouth-breathing scribblers and pretty TeeVee faces didn't bother with economics classes when they got their useless "college degrees".

Fresh air and sunshine are hardly incubators for disease. The solution to pollution is dilution, and the solution to plague is fresh air and decreased population density. Confining people in close quarters is exactly the wrong approach.

Tourism will return, and this may be beneficial in the long run. Limiting numbers in large venues and decreasing proximity doesn’t sound like a bad thing to me.

Some sales types get looked down on for a reason.

A good sales type is worth their weight in gold. It isn't for me.

Vegas was once run by The Mob. They were better at it.

What a foul, dishonest, treasonous, and lying cuck.

I'm talking about the author, not the Governor.

Of COURSE this is done with malicious intent.

Why defend it under any guise whatsoever?

It’s no joke. Covid19 has killed more in the US in 2 months than the flu has done than the flu last year.

That was supposed to be increasing proximity.

At least FL has something to offer in exchange for the money spent. You can go to the beaches, get some sun, nice food, beautiful scenery, warm weather.

Gambling is not necessary for life, or liberty. Gambling addictions destroy lives and produce nothing good. I don’t see that the loss of gambling industry is a detriment to anyone.

I’d feel as bad as about Nevada losing its gambling economy as I do about the abortion industry going under.

Sorry, no sympathy from me for gambling going under.

Nevada needs to figure out something else of value to offer the world.

Yep. We will have dem governors and mayors dictating how all businesses conduct themselves when they are eventually allowed to open. They will try to limit seating in restaurants, bars, theaters and all other stores. The New Jersey and New York pols especially. Civil disobedience is going to have to occur, I’m afraid.

I am pretty sure that UVC light arrays inside the hotels and casinos HVAC systems will sterilize the air enough to make everyone happy. An expensive retrofit but doable.

You can go to Florida beaches if you can find somewhere to park. Beach parking lots are closed.

I feel organized religion is a detriment to society and should close permanently. Large churches and their indoctrination into superstitious 2k year old mumbo jumbo causes people to walk around with toxic guilt and shame leading to additions, broken families and suicide. I think churches, mosques and synagogues should go away also. No place for them in a modern society. They are at their core centers for repression, groupthink and against human liberty. See where we could go with this when we want to pick and choose what WE feel people should do.

And I agree with most of the opinions I was trying to ironic about. Religion is mostly dusty, old, self-verifying superstitious nonsense. Love Jesus but most of the Christian religion...meh. People are free to believe the moon is made of cheese also. You are for liberty or you are not. Not just things you agree with.
