The owner of a North Dallas salon says shes in a fight to save her business and will continue to defy local and state COVID-19 orders to remain closed for now.
Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins office sent a cease and desist letter to Shelley Luther on Friday afternoon after Salon A La Mode opened for business Friday morning, she confirmed to NBC 5.
She also confirms she was cited by the city of Dallas for opening despite local orders
SUE THEM!!!
The U.S. Supreme Court has held that emergency may not create power. Wilson v. New, 243 U.S. 332 (1917), citing Ex Parte Milligan, 4 Wall. 2 (1866). The Civil War did not give President Lincoln the authority to have civilians in Indiana tried by military commissions without due process of law. Even during such a chaotic time when the nation was convulsed in violence and bloodshed, individual Constitutional rights were protected. Those precious rights should be no less protected today. No virus can strip Americans of their civil rights. But as this crisis and the government responses to it have shown, if we are not vigilant in protecting our liberties, they will be taken from us.
More business owners need to do this. Get in touch with each other, set up a day, and a bunch of them all go open up at 8 am.
Overwhelm the system with civil disobedience.
Screw this judge and his orders.
“Overwhelm the system with civil disobedience.”
^^^ This!
I have not heard much about the recall procedure, what does it take to do this?
I hope she’s lawyer’d up. The Leftist overlord politicians do not want a recovery (to get rid of Trump) and will use the full power of the government (and then some!) to achieve full dominance.
Heard this on the radio, LEO showed up, said they will report it to state officials and then left.
Probably going to see a lot more today.
.
I don’t think Dallas County has a recall provision.
Next time, a more strongly worded letter.
At this point I’d fly down there from NJ to get a haircut.
Hopefully President Trump won’t castigate these business owners like he did Governor Kemp because they broke his precious “phase” BS!
Agreed, it’s time to start opening up with whatever precautions make sense. There’s nothing stopping persons at higher risk from staying home. Businesses failing is families suffering.
Hell, there’s parking lots full yesterday at Walmart and Lowes, and each have been so during the quarantine. I don’t see cases rising exponentially around here as a result.
” Theres nothing stopping persons at higher risk from staying home. Businesses failing is families suffering.”
We need to tell people that are concerned about getting sick to just stay home and allow the rest of society to work and function. Everybody knows by now what they need to do and if you don’t want to do it, you might get sick and die, but that is your choice,
Criminal government once again using the monopoly on the use of force to threaten a citizen.
The people in government are truly the enemy.
JoMa
Colleyville (which is near Dallas) is largely re-opened now. I think the pressure will build on local officials to re-open businesses.
How about she claim she is not open to walk-ins as she works by appointment only.
Or . . . tell ‘em they have shut down and the do the above with their alerted customer base.
To avoid court costs, why doesn’t she go to her clients homes and serve them?
