The report says Miller, who was a chief architect in drafting the immigration order, said Trump's immigration order is not intended to be a stopgap measure, but rather a long-term vision to shape immigration flow.

"The most important thing is to turn off the faucet of new immigrant labor,” Miller said, ....As a numerical proposition, when you suspend the entry of a new immigrant from abroad, you’re also reducing immigration further because the chains of follow-on migration that are disrupted,” said Miller, one of the executive order’s main authors. “So the benefit to American workers compounds with time.”

I work in a hospital in NJ and it isn't just Third Worlders who need to keep out of here. Although I do agree we don't need any more East Indian and Pakistani doctors. But we could do without Ukrainians, Russians, Poles, Greek and Brits. I work with all of the latter. Mostly women and of them all the latter two, Greeks and Brits never shut up about "Why doesn't America have free health care?'' Why do Americans own guns?''. For Gods sake we take in a million people a year. ENOUGH!

When it comes to farm labor, I’ve had a soft spot for
programs that allow seasonal employment of Mexican nationals
to help our farmers.

The problem is, our immigration laws habe been so disobeyed,
it gives me very little reason to approve of any Bracero-like
programs.

Farmers say they need them. I’ll take their word for it.
Maybe these farmers should be responsible for picking them
up at the border and delivering them back, same people,
same count. That’s so they can get a permit to use the
program the next year.

We need to put a cork the leaks.

I grew up in New Mexico in the 50s. Braceros were there but never in the open. They had to “hide”. If they once came in contact with the authorities they went straight back to Mexico. When I was 9 my neighbor was a Border Patrol. When I was 16 as an orderly we had a Bruce Ro found on the highway with acute appendicitis come in and had surgery. When he healed he went back to Mexico. I remember asking the Sheriff, “Who’s gonna pay the bill?” He never answered. Not a word. They were “around”. They had their trails through the Guadalupes and there were abandoned Baracks at the old WWII Bomber bases they would live in. Our church would go out in groups to give them food and blankets.

At 16 I remember wondering, “If these churches know where they are why doesn’t the Border Patrol send them back?” They were “tolerated” but they knew better than appear in public. That was a one way ticket back. In the 50s that’s how it was.

This link mentions the air fields that because municipal airports. Notice it mentions a number of airfields that no longer exist. Because of the # of days of “clear blue sky” this region was used to train all of the thousands and thousands of bomber crews that were deployed. The runways have been converted to roads in the oil patch and such but the aboandoned barracks were still there in the 50s and 60s. Look at a map, the area East of the Guadalupes and along the Texas New Mexico Border had quite a number of scatted air fields.

If you look at a map, Rattlesnake Springs, the Black River, and the Pecos River are part of the old “Brucero” Trail that led right to the old airfields. I guess people who wanted “help” for a few days would drive over (like they do with box stores nowadays) and hire them for food and cash.

I’m just glad to see his name in the news. I would have felt a lot more hopeful if he had been present at these hideous CV press conferences. Glad to know he is still being listened to. I agree, he and Peter Navarro are treasures.
