Are struggling Americans ready for their coronavirus lockdown to end — or terrified?
New York Post ^ | April 24, 2020 | Natalie O'Neill, Lorena Mongelli and Jackie Salo

America’s coronavirus lockdown is causing economic pain across the country like nothing this nation has seen since the Great Depression.

In just the past five weeks, more than 26 million have lost their jobs, as US commerce has come to a virtual standstill while people stay home to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.

The grim unemployment numbers don’t even include the workers who have seen their hours slashed, salaries cut and sales commissions evaporate...

The Post has talked to a group of hard-hit people, here are their stories:

Ready.

That’s what hospitals are for. And they’re not nearly filled to capacity anywhere.

Not even ground zero.

I live here.

Trust me.

I am terrified that we have a lying media that want to prolong the pandemic.

I haven’t seen new case numbers drop yet.

But I like the gradual 4 phase approach that Nashville laid out. Not sure when it will start since the 14 day decline hasn’t happened yet.

When lockdowns end half the people will stay in in-home quarantine, half will flood public spaces and have face licking parties.

A fool has said in his heart this virus is doom. A fool has said in his heart this virus is not doom.

At least, it will for liberals. For us, not so much.

Liberals screwed the economy based on a hysterical disease model and now demand we implement more expensive policies based on severely biased climate models.

There are places laying off nurses because they aren’t seeing the demand. Mobile hospitals set up for pandemic patients ... are closing or moving.

That is bueracracy at work.

Open it up before the country dies in a great depression 2.0.

I saw that TN has had more suicides than CV deaths. That is really sad if true. What is even sadder is they are saying that child abuse has increased everywhere with the loss of jobs. The lock down has caused so much more devastation than the virus ever will.

We have several cures now. The risk of dying is falling like a rock where ever one or more of the cures are used. Still need to watch out for the high risk folks. Catch it early, get treated and go back to work.

Barely mentioned is the quick progress that’s been made unraveling this virus when compared to other flues, viruses and other sickness.

As an aircraft carrier today is more potent than the entire navies of old countries.

Today’s labs have equipment and inspired creative people doing what none in history could have dreamed of.

This virus may have been quick upon us and nasty but is not the runaway Sci-fi movie script we’re led to think will end us.

It’s criminal what Cuomo has allowed for to happen in nursing homes though!

We are living a War of the Worlds. Most will have no f-ing idea what that meant. I was not alive then by the way. Our systems are corrupt to the core.

My dogs are the happiest they’ve ever been. More face time, consistent food and toy play time unmatched ever in their lives.

Their depression will hit when we go back to work.

Hope this is on some politicians radar. It’s good times now but my dogs are going to need a bailout.

Yeah watch out for elderly folks like Cuomo did in NY letting them die because of refusing to get them out of the nursing homes to be transported to all of the additional health facilities that Trump sent to NYC. The DemoRats do not care about the elderly or the dignity of helping the defenseless. They are soulless and just want the $$$$ for every death they report. So evil. So sick.
