Right now everyone is making fun of Trump's comments about disinfecting from the inside.
What goes unnoticed is that he actually may be right.
Just like chloroquine it is a very old med, and generally forgotten -- nonprofitable. Two differences with chloroquine are: (1) it is actually known to be safe (2) it is easy to understand why it works -- it actually kills viruses.
The med is Methenamine and it goes back to 1859. Some articles call it an antibiotic -- well, if so, it is the first one! More appropriate name would be anti-infective: it kills both bacteria and viruses.
Ironically it does exactly what Trump suggested yesterday: it applies a disinfectant *internally*. While drinking glorox would not do much good against virus, Methenamine delivers a powerful disinfectant in tiny dosages exactly to where you want it : respiratory and urinary tracts. (First destination is for the virus, Second is for the main usage TODAY). The disinfectant is actually formaldehyde. Methenamine is chemically formaldehyde, wrapped into a packaging to make is safe, it breaks down upon delivery. Formaldehyde kills viruses. (And it is not something you want to drink...except in this controlled fashion).
Today, methenamine is nonprescription medication for urinary tract bacterial infections. In 1920s it was perhaps the main anti-flu medication, both as treatment and as a preventative. (I have a funny leaflet from those days somewhere...claims 100% protection against flu... well, nothing is 100% protection, anything that works helps.).
Unlike most flu meds today, it is not a symptom reliever -- it is a virus killer. Not suggesting it or anything... but this is really one medication one should look at seriously. Fairly decent chances it works.... at least by diminishing the virus load.

Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that. Really...does it take some sort of comprehension here? Maybe it is New York talk or something that other folks don’t understand.
Sad but true. If it fits their narrative they run with it no matter how idiotic it is, they’ll believe it without question. Someone says that Trump eats BBQ’s puppies they’d believe.

Trump's mind is pretty damn quick it and queries a huge database. His eloquence can be debated, but I would never hazard to say that he doesn't know the truth whereof he speaks.
As this debate goes on, and as is almost always the case, it appears Trump is absolutely right: there are several therapies to fight viral infection that involve forms of light. The therapy involving chemical injection presented in this thread may also have been something he has been informed of.
The current dominance of expensive treatments to treat disease in the USA is a powerful force to suppress easily developed and inexpensive treatments that are just as good. Fauci is a gatekeeper for big profits, if you ask me. He's doing one hell-of-a job. His scoffing at HCQ/AZ/Zn may land him in hell - it sure seems like a lot of lives are being sacrificed just to satisfy the pride of people who want to protect their assertion that Trump is unfit; he seems to be surreptitiously, but quite comfortably, riding that bandwagon.

In his exchange with Karl of ABC..Karl asks stupidly if Trump wants to inject people with bleach. Trump says no and castigates Karl, then says tomorrow’s headline will be Trump wants to inject people with bleach....being sarcastic. Which did happen didn’t it.
Unforced error. I watched the briefing and Trump wandered off in a subject he knew nothing about and obviously hadn’t discussed it with the team. He set the media up to destroy him on this one.

He said something dumb and a bit incoherent. He did not even come close to suggesting that people should be injecting themselves with disinfectant which is what the MSM and other scumbags are claiming with their little Lysol lie. Get real.
Again, the comment in question is this one:

I have no idea how you can read that any other way than he wants an opinion on injecting disinfectant. I think it was a dumb thing to say. I think he knows it was dumb. I think that’s why he took no questions tonight.
