Mr. President, we’re counting on you to protect our republic from the power grabs of the elite.“

Don’t hold your breath. He has allowed a Birx and Fauci to call the shots. I hoped that would change but it’s not changing. Look at how he blasted Gov Kemp of Georgia for not following Birx/Fauci directives.

They screwed up trade and immigration too, so they can’t be trusted.

“Screwed up” meaning what, that their ends weren’t served? Maybe on Russiagate, since it failed to remove President Trump from office, but it certainly crippled his first term. They haven’t “screwed up” anything, unless you think they meant to serve the best interests of the country. That is not their aim. The only thing that didn’t work for them in Iraq is that we were supposed to have attacked a bunch of other countries by now. They are still working on it.

I trust absolutely nothing that the government does.
They are corrupt and incompetent.
When are they going to start laying off government employees?

Iraq and Russiagate were intelligence failures. COVID is more a bureaucratic failure to plan and prepare for a known risk.

I have a simple rule. Anyone in government for more than 10 years cannot be trusted. This includes a president's or a senator's two terms and five terms for a representative. Add all government employees to the list as well.

The acid test: how many Republican elected officials with tenures of greater than 10 years do you really like and have actually implemented the policies you want. Sorry, loaded question, because implementing policies never happens with Republican in congress because they always cave to Rats. Additionally, once in congress that long, their primary job seems to be controlling freshmen congressmen to go against their promises. (Yes, there are a couple exceptions to these things, but they certainly are replaceable. I didn't mention Rats, because everyone knows they can't be trusted to begin with.)

As for plain old government employees - if you can hang around in any job for ten years you become part of the establishment, and in this case the deep state. Also, if they ever worked in the private sector their skills become stale. If they never worked in the private sector they never had any skills to begin with, so the only way they get ahead is through pure politics, not though initiative, talent, hard work or knowledge.

Solution: Term limits for everyone in government. It's serving your country, not a career. (I'm even willing to make an argument for some of this in the military.)
