With potentially record-setting heat on tap for the weekend, local officials have urged residents to avoid flocking to closed beaches and trailheads to take advantage of the taste of summer — which would defy COVID-19 social-distancing mandates.
“It’s getting warmer in Los Angeles — and when it gets warmer in Los Angeles, we are a coastal city, we tend to head to the beach, we tend to head to the trails,” Los Angeles Police Department Chief Michel Moore said. “We like to be outdoors. And yet, as we know, in the nonessential activities, we’ve needed to close trailheads. We’ve needed to close the beaches.
“There’s areas of Los Angeles we’re asking people not to congregate,” he added. “We’re asking people to exercise social distancing so that we can cut down this threat of the COVID-19.”
The Police Department, Moore said, has focused on advising, counseling and directing residents not to congregate — rather than citing them. Most people have complied and stayed home and, if not, have listened to officers who approached them and directed them to leave a given area, he added.

High temperature on Thursday was 91 degrees in Downtown LA...I looked at the beach cam for Huntington Beach...It is at least 40 miles away from Downtown LA. People were walking on the beach...Some people were even sunbathing...It was not very "crowded"...After all, City of Huntington Beach shut down parking lots...
LA Mayor Eric Garcetti stated that City may open cooling centers. People will be required to maintain social distancing in the cooling center...
Open the LA County beaches...Let people walk on the beach...The cops could drive around on the beach to make sure that people do not get too close to each other... I think it would be better for people to be out on the beach then be stuck in the "cooling center"...
They’re back-assward. People need to be getting sunshine out in the heat to beat back the virus. Vitamin D is good for your immune system. You don’t have to go to the beach or a park. You can grab a lawn chair and just baste in the sun - something many women do anyway.
The wrong thing is to stay indoors the whole time curled up in a fetal position until the authorities tell you that you can come out of hiding.
Far too many are in the latter, and begging for more.

LA County Health director stated that,if you are exercising when it is hot outside, you should not wear the mask...She said that you should just stay away from people...

I read about a few polls...In each poll, over 50% of people are OK with shutdowns...
The DemocRAT states will be the Last to Reopen and have the Most Deaths - THAT OF BUSINESSES THAT NEVER COME BACK.
In Northern California, people are encouraged to hike, although with provisions.
Right not CA is on track to have far from the most deaths.
It will be interesting to see if people comply. I've spent sometime out in the coastal LA area. The home I stayed at doesn't have air conditioning and isn't very well insulated. There were no shade trees because they block the view. I doubt many people with similar circumstances will shelter in place during the hottest part of the day.

It is going to get very interesting really, really soon. The liberal Millenials aren’t going to like being told to stay in when it is beach weather. They love to have the rules apply to others, but not to themselves.
