Expanded and frequent Covid-19 testing has emerged as a necessary precondition for reopening America and resuming something like normal life. But political leaders and citizens need a better understanding of how testing works, how testing can go wrong, and why tests dont necessarily indicate immunity to disease. As we move into the next phase of the Covid-19 pandemic, we also need a better understanding of viral antibodies and how serological tests differ from tests for the novel coronavirus itself. Tests can trick us into thinking we were never infected when we were, and vice-versa, which in some cases can present a real danger.

Testing stops nothing.
And if this is true, why continue living. Better to be dead and all problems settled and you will not have to listen to any more bull s.
A “Test” is ONE POINT IN TIME. What they going to do...test everyday?
Testing is the result of a point in time ... 24 hours it may not be valid. Will need to test every 24 hours to be valid at any point in time.
Tests are snapshot stills from the movie called “life”.
“Testing stops nothing.”
As another poster put it: ‘testing’ is a delay tactic and ripe for political abuse.
Shhhhh, let them think it works so we can get back to work.
Correct. My thinking is that hospitalization data is a valid sample of the entire population. If asymptomatic persons infect others, then some percentage will have symptoms, present themselves to a hospital and be tested. We only need to observe hospitalizations and outcomes to see how the pandemic is playing out.
Thank you VERY much for posting this. I have tried to explain several times the limitations of serological testing, and some people get angry because it challenges the narrative that millions of people have already had Covid-19 by December. As yet, there is NO testing that shows that Covid-19 is more widespread than the current case count shows, despite some highly touted studies.
Our great President basically laid it out today - testing is total bull crap
He said it perfectly -theres 350 million people in this country ! I could put out 350 million tests and then the press would say oh you didnt do it 10 times!
The only people that should be tested wrd people that are feeling symptoms or are you going to be near vulnerable populations
