Californias Highway Patrol (CHP) said it will no longer grant permits for protests on state property, including the state Capitol, following demonstrations Monday against Gov. Gavin Newsoms (D) stay-at-home order.
Officer John Ortega told The Hill Wednesday that effective immediately any permit request at state facilities, including the state Capitol, will be denied until public health officials determine it is safe to gather again.
The decision is in the interest of public safety and the health of Californians during the COVID-19 pandemic, he said.
The ban was first reported by The Sacramento Bee.
CHP said protesters on Monday did not comply with the states public health guidance put in place in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Permits are issued to provide safe environments for demonstrators to express their views. In this case, the permit for the convoy was issued with the understanding that the protest would be conducted in a manner consistent with the states public health guidance, CHP said in a statement to the newspaper.
That is not what occurred, and CHP will take this experience into account when considering permits for this or any other group, CHP added.

And the majority of those rights can be found in the Constitutions of the original 13 States. These Constitutions ALL preceeded the Federal Constitution.
Try the Avalon Project.
It also gives a broader look at what was meant by the right to bear arms.
Completely trashing the Constitution is so much easier than I would have ever imagined!
A single errant Trident missile could solve *that* problem.
They just don’t want the people near them. We have germs and might infect them
I suspect protesters will get a fine....not going to put anyone in jail. It’s a virus risk.
Notice that protests were not shut down in states where the protesters had rifles

As has been stated, the 2nd Amendment is the insurance policy for the 1st Amendment.
What if the protesters set up tents on the Capitol sidewalks?

If citizens are denied by a governor's command the right to assemble peacefully and to "petition the government for a redress of grievances", then truly the U.S. Constitution has been suspended and subject to the whims of state governors as to when -- and if -- the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights will be restored. If this practice -- this tyranny -- is allowed to stand, if it becomes "established law" that any executive order issued by any governor -- issued without review and a vote by the legislature and applied by fiat without any judicial review -- then our Constitution means only what a governor says it means ... nothing more.
JFK and RFK consider doing this to MLK in DC

The DNC studied how the Chinese Communists used COVID19 to put down the Hong Kong protests.
They forgot that the issuance of permits is all that allows them to restrict demonstrations at all. Appropriate time and place and all.. but without any permits then it goes back to when and where you want.. and filing charges with US Justice department for conspiracy to deprive rights.
Someone has to shove back using the law.. to make these folks remember that there is law.. not just edicts.
Leave your ID at home and pretend to be an illegal alien. Excuse me, Undocumented Worker. Theyll celebrate your presence.
Protesters should find out if the court agrees with this ban. I doubt ultimately the courts will.
