It was speculated North Korea's leader was in "grave danger" following heart surgery. Seoul's top office reaffirmed they weren't aware of anything out of the ordinary with Kim Jong-un's health. But a new report out of Japan claims the regime has been preparing a contingency plan for a leadership succession since late last year. Hong Yoo has the full story. Kim Jong-un's lack of recent public appearances, and the speculation surrounding his well-being, has raised the question of 'who will be the next in charge?'. The spotlight is now on Kim Jong-un's sister, Kim Yo-jong.

Kim-Jong Un’s girl friend made him mad. She was executed. I would think twice about marrying into that family.

Women despots, historically, can often be far worse than the men, is that not true?

You may be on to something, depending on the Asian culture. Typically male oriented, and females are treated as second class. So a female needs to be sterner to maintain control.

My wife is Chinese-American and was an I.T. manager in charge of a large data center before retiring. No problem with her male white, hispanic and black employees. But she had problems with some Asian male employees, particularly those born in China. They called her a dragon lady, and often clashed with her so she had to be tougher on them. One she fired initiated a lawsuit against her and the company, charging racism. But my wife documented everything and HR sided with her and the suit was dismissed. When she fired that Chinese guy, he fought the company security guards and SFPD police were called in to drag him out. He just could not accept that a female was ordering him to do things. After he was dragged out, my wife got lots more respect from the Asians.

Kim Yo-Jong may abdicate to her children, Ping & Pong

If Ping and Pong the pandas are involved, can the Brady Kids be far behind?

Just call her Yum Yum?

She's actually pretty, so that would work. Compared to her brother, she is skinny. She might get called Kim Yo-Bony.

It’s hard to imagine the ROK not having a pretty good idea what’s happening in NK at any given moment. And if Fat Boy is,in fact, ill it’s easy to understand why they might publicly deny knowledge.

Apparently she was educated in Switzerland, as was her brother. Here’s hoping that she paid a bit more attention than he did.

After Stalin died in March 1953 there was a power struggle with Khrushchev on one side and Beria. Other then Beria being arrested and killed allegedly in December. Some of the higher ups were placed in lesser roles are became plant managers in Kazakhstan. Zhukov was out after The Great Patriotic War, back in for a few years after Stalin died than out again and retired. NONE OF THIS WAS AS BLOODY AS THE ‘30s PURGES.

The Empress Dowager was actually a defender of the peasants. It’s the leftist intellectuals who slandered her. Pearl S. Buck wrote a biography of her that set the record straight.

Until Kruschev consolidated power as Premier, rule after Stalin was by a small group of those left at the top who managed to outlive the bastard. Took several years and Nikita’s secret (for a short while) speech to the Party Congress denouncing him before the post-Stalin regime was consolidated. There was no heir apparent (Stalin had systematically killed off any possible successors throughout his long reign) and Levranti Beria, a genuine monster who ran the KGB during Stalin’s last years, was the first holdover to be “liquidated”. It’s difficult to predict what will happen when Kim III shuffles off his massive coil. Very different set of players and situation.
