The federal government has flexed its muscle to blunt the economic damage from the coronavirus pandemic, and most voters back the intervention.

As Congress looks to build on the largest emergency spending plan in U.S. history, 63% of registered voters said they approve of the expansion of the government’s role in the economy in response to the outbreak, an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released Sunday found. Another 30% of respondents said they disapproved.

Yeah, I know. Stipper 'polls' are more accurate. But it's a pretty sad state of affairs if only 30% of the folks have a clue. Nanny state barf alert.

It’s a shame that WMD would parrot an article by CNBC. Bad move WMD.

Most voters think there is actually something called “Government money” that comes out of a unicorn somewhere.

If things haven't started opening up by mid-May, we're gonna see some pretty serious objections to the lockdown.

I'm betting the whiney liberal states will be shamed into opening after several conservative states have opened up.

If true, that explains how stupid and ignorant are the nation’s voters.

Why should the Fed show support for sanctuary states. President Trump was put down trying to prevent sanctuary states and cities. Sanctuary cities is what brought on most of the Virus explosions in cities. Now the crooks want the American Taxpayer to pay for their mistakes.
Cuoma is a big phony politician and New York should pay for their own mistakes.

The kind of government role I want to see is to tell China we will be subtracting the costs of the Covid shutdown from whatever US debt they hold. If you owe your neighbor $10,000, and he burns down your house, you don't pay him back.

This may be a good place to offer up this video.

He is a Nuclear Physician and Radiologist that immigrated from Russis, who taught at Moscow Military Hospital, G.W., Univ of Md and now UVA. Well worth the watch.

Basically he says that lock downs are causing the Covid-19 virus to mutate into an even worse virus

” they approve of the expansion of the government’s role in the economy in response to the outbreak”

If they mean the government should fix the mess it made by its own policies, I can see the point.

You could also argue that things would be better if they would just do as little as possible, but how likely is that?

What would the poll results have been if “government” was replaced with “politicians and bureaucrats”?

Most voters supported slavery in 1860. Most voters supported Jim Crow laws in the 1950's. Most voters thought loyal Americans of Japanese ancestry should be locked up in camps in 1942.

Sometimes a "Majority" support lots of amoral and stupid sh*t. Why we don't live in a pure Democracy. The mobs can be awfully stupid when drugged up on gubbmint money, social media and MSM propaganda.

Reminds me: when VP Cheney shot that guy in a hunting accident I proposed two polls just to see how the results differed.

One would ask what people thought of Cheney shooting an elderly man.

The other about him shooting a trial lawyer.
