Near the end of WWII, the 1st Marine Div. had troops deployed in China to clean out the last of the Japanese. As this operation was happening, the communists were overthrowing the Chinese Nationalists. The Nationalists begged the Marines for assistance, weaponry, anything that would assist etc. The Marines were told in no certain terms to not give them even a single bullet. That order came down all the way from the POTUS at that time. Battle-hardened Marines could have ended that overthrow but were not allowed to do so.

That said, Korea War started becuase of Truman Admin’s weakness and failure to diplomatically stand behind SK. The Soviets thus gave the Norks the green light.

How I know this is because my father was a USMC BAR rifleman and was part of the troops that went into China near the end of WWII. He saw the overthrow happening with his own eyes, even had pictures from back then. Over the years, he told us a thousand times that it could have been stopped dead in its tracks IF they had been allowed to do so.
Now look what we have today.... Yes, so much could have been totally avoided.
