We all look forward to the day we can put this pandemic behind us, but given Georgias performance so far, Gov. Brian Kemp is moving too soon and confusing citizens. He is risking a resurgence of the coronavirus in our state.
Yes, the statistical models have started to bend in our favor. While just models, these different analyses of COVID-19 cases and deaths, suggest that the state may be past its peak and a dire situation is getting better.
The state ranks among the nations worst for its number of COVID-19 cases and the deaths.
The state ranks in the bottom 10 in testing per capita. Experts say the state still lacks the testing capacity needed to detect the true scope of the disease, as well as the resources required to trace the contacts of infected persons, in order to isolate future outbreaks.
There are some crucial things that he should tend to:
Testing. Tests of several types will be needed in great volume. Georgians will need to know if theyve had the virus and now have immunity. They need to know if they risk exposure or exposing others.
Goals, not dates. The coronavirus isnt following the calendar. The states plan should be built around infection rates, testing data and ongoing plans to monitor new cases. Arbitrary dates arent helpful and could create false hope or a temptation to abandon practices that are working.

Agree that NYC is not America. What does seem to be America-wide though maybe even worldwide is the sad fact of nursing homes :( and the sad situation this is with or without a pandemic.
We need Gods wisdom with regard to how we treat the elderly. And that is one major thing this Covid virus reveals .
I maintain disrance and not coughing or sneezing, so I don’t wear a mask. Most of them are just to nake other people feel good, don’t really do anything.
Atlanta is rapidly becoming a millstone around Georgia’s neck, like Chicago or New York.
Many years ago (about 20-25) I used to subscribe to the AJC. They delivered the paper to my house daily and had for about 5 years. I lived inside the perimeter in a well established neighborhood. One day I stopped receiving the paper, bills were paid mind you. I called them, they said they couldn’t find my house.
I always wondered what changed with the AJC back then, but I never went back.
What a clueless California snob you are.
is atlanta journal ever right?
Sorry Im just going off of info my Atlanta friend shares with me. *shrug*
As weve seen the MSM/DNC has one goal at this moment, stop any opening anywhere.
Maybe one on one - a mask wont do much, but collectively it seems to make all the difference (alongside testing, etc..) South Korea case and point.
That's over two weeks ago.
You need to be more specific. The sad fact of medicaid nursing homes (Kent WA, Mt Airy MD, Richmond VA) is that underfunding and understaffing lead to poor infection control in people who were doomed to die pretty soon. COVID seems to be ripe for that environment since it doesn't take 1000's of particles to infect a patient like it does for healthy people.
The sad fact is we put a certain number of old people into oxy warehouses to wait for them to die. There are many high quality nursing homes and assisted livings with infections but no widespread death.
AJC would bitch about anything Kemp does.
Helps prove the point of President Trump's Three Phases plan.
But they’re on top of each other in South Korea. I’m talking about going shopping and keeping distance.
Atlanta mayor: I'm at a loss by the governor's decision to reopen
Amazingly, everyone here on FR just found out that Californian’s are the ONLY health conscious people in the country, if not on the planet. WOW!!!! And here I thought that eating right, exercising regularly, taking showers, brushing my teeth, and keeping my house clean were the right things to do. Man, was I wrong.
You have medieval diseases on your street. You have dirty needles on your streets. You have the homeless crapping in the street.
Please, spare your pompous, arrogant diatribe for you and your fellow Californians .... absolutely no one cares what any of you think.
A little harsh there.
I’m in CA too, along with lots of other conservatives. Not all of us live in big cities, or have needles and feces laying around LOL.
Most CA politicians can take a flying leap, but lots of decent folks-—your fellow AMERICANS-—still exist here.
I know they do, but according to your fellow Californian, you folks are the only ones that know how to put toothpaste on a toothbrush. The rest of us are nothing but dirty neanderthals.
Or... at least until November?
Well bless your heart. I can’t imagine how difficult it is for you to be here with the rest of us. You are so special.
