SEATTLE — Thousands of people gathered at the Washington state Capitol to protest Gov. Jay Inslee’s stay-at-home order designed to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
In Olympia on Sunday, some protesters wore masks, while others waved American flags.
The Washington State Patrol said an estimated 2,500 people showed up to the protest. No arrests were made.
Tyler Miller, one of the organizers of the event, had said rural areas should be treated differently than more urban locations with more coronavirus cases.
Earlier Sunday, Inslee decried President Donald Trump’s call to “liberate” parts of the country from social-distancing decrees, saying Trump is fomenting a potentially deadly “insubordination” before the pandemic is contained.
The latest statewide death toll as reported by the Department of Health had reached 634 deaths among 11,790 confirmed coronavirus cases as of 11:59 p.m. Saturday.
Here’s a breakdown of some of the counties with the highest totals: King County has 346 deaths among 5,135 cases; Snohomish County has 94 deaths among 2,101 cases; and Pierce County has 32 deaths among 1,109 cases.

I’m all about keeping elderly in their homes. Even if they need visiting home nurses.
I’ve been home now almost 6 weeks,just myself, but know well how to occupy the time and have access to outdoors. But I am at risk having had a surgical proceedure a few months ago and so being careful... in fact checkup was rescheduled because of this virus.
So I do understand lowering ones risk. But I also undersstand people who are without an income ,who cannot work from home, protesting to get back to work. And let them as well determine their own risk by doing so.

I know lots of people who are out of work. Many in the bar & restaurant industry, some in the music industry, some in retail and random industries you would not think were impacted. We all want to work.

I’m not looking at the media. I’m looking at China and we know they under reported the number of deaths and infections.
We don’t know the real numbers, but we know the China numbers are high.
Good question! Our government officials are in digital mode: it’s either “on” or “off.” Nothing in between. But they are “following the science.” Ugh.
But Newsom said about a month ago that over 25 million Californians would be infected. At a CFR of 1%, that would be 250,000 Californians dead. Anyone seen a retraction??? Ha!
Sad isn’t it.......but I like to think once things begin to open there’s also coming a perculation point in the economy which follows...I couldn’t imagine a better man nor administration more capable to make that happen then what we have, despite his or their warts. And I believe the public recognizes this as well...they want to be a part of it!
And we’ll just pray with hope God will want it too!
Spot on...we should all be responsible for our own lives and well-being. Following CDC guidelines is not that difficult. But our Governor (”Asterisk Inslee”) does not trust WA citizens to be able to do that. Of course he is probably thinking mostly about his voters...
