Mnuchin says putting Trump's name on coronavirus stimulus checks was his idea

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin on Sunday said it was his idea -- not President Donald Trump's -- to add the President's name to coronavirus stimulus checks that are being sent to millions of Americans, saying it's "a terrific symbol" to Americans.

"We did put the President's name on the check. That was my idea. He is the President and I think it's a terrific symbol to the American public," Mnuchin told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union."

When asked about his name appearing on the checks during a briefing last week, Trump said, "Well, I don't know much about it, but I understand my name is there. I don't know where they're going, how they're going."

"I'm sure people will be very happy to get a big, fat, beautiful check and my name is on it," the President said, adding that "it's not delaying anything."

It's true....and no big deal.

Here's your choice...make a copy and cash it....or sell it on ebay and try to make more than whatever the check is.

This silent monster will go down in history. I don't have a problem with it.

The wife and I get the same result. We have discovered the issue for us. We will be getting checks. Why? Because we arrange our tax payments so that we always owe the IRS a few hundred dollars every year. So, they have no banking info on us.
Other members of our family that do get refunds always wait for a check. So, they have no banking info on-file. But, they have the option of inputting bank info to get a direct deposit. We are not offered that same option.
It appears the IRS isn’t happy with people that arrange their taxes as we do. So, we will wait until they get around to sending us our check.

President Trump’s name should be on the checks.

They should have put “MAGA 2020” on the checks. :-)

We “ditchdiggers” have been working throughout all of this

I don’t need a check, but if I get one, I’ll just blow it all on more guns and ammo

So the president is going to personally sign millions of checks?

You're basically getting a loan of a few hundred dollars every year at no interest; hence, the IRS's displeasure.

If you owed more than a thousand dollars, they would probably let you slide for the first year before they started charging you interest on the amount owed.

Same here.

I went to irs.gov yesterday and entered my bank info. Per what I’ve read they will direct deposit next week.

Very simple to do.

I’m getting mine direct deposited, but if I was lucky enough to get a printed check, I would have framed it instead of cashing it in. KAG 2020 WooHoo!
