There is not, as of writing, any medication which has been shown in controlled trials to significantly hasten recovery from covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus that's become a global pandemic. Last week, there were nonetheless some new developments on that front. One drug seems to show signs of promise. Another has seen red flags raised.
The one that's raised hopes isn't the one that President Donald Trump has been hyping.
Again: It is not the case that we have new, incontrovertible proof of a drug's efficacy. But news of a trial demonstrating some benefit for covid-19 patients from the anti-viral drug remdesivir helped push the stock market higher on Friday. A report from the National Institutes of Health further suggested that the drug had halted the progression of covid-19 - at least in monkeys.
For the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine, the news was less positive. There's still no demonstrated evidence that improvements after taking the drug are causal. A number of controlled studies in fact failed to demonstrate evidence that hydroxychloroquine or a related drug, chloroquine, had an effect on the disease. A New York family blames the drug for causing their mother's heart attack - an unproven claim but one in line with concerns about use of the drug. The CIA even warned its employees about using the drug due to the possibility of "sudden cardiac death."

Trump and Fox even pronounced OPENLY their hope that Gilead's Remdesivir would work. It's just that media is sooo tone deaf, they keep harping on Hydroxychloroquine alone.
Of course, this article now begins to tout Remdesivir. It says: "The thing that's interesting is that Trump could have bet on remdesivir." <--- WHY? Has it been proven already compared to Hydroxychloroquine?
Secondly, Trump did not say it is the silver bullet. He said Let doctors try it. He even said: "It may work, it may not work, but let's try". How is that calling it a silver bulet?

I wonder how many Americans have been saved by Hydroxychloroquine since we started using it for the virus?

A quick look at Chinese money and the StanfordAdvocate.com (not an .edu) makes it clear that this is a Chi-Com hit piece.
China has been trying to obtain patents and hoard all these drugs since the first outbreak was discovered. Very telling.

They sure as heck do not want anyone to learn that simple old vitamin C in high doses is actually a VERY potent anti-viral and is already in use saving lives from this virus.
I for one have HAD ENOUGH of the deliberate supression of life saving information from the WHO, Facebook, Google and DR.FAUCI.

How would the CIA be making medical recommendations that are the opposite of the FDA and CDC?
Hydroxychloroquine, Chloroquine, and Azithromycin are all FDA approved drugs in widespread use. The first two are often prescribed to tourists headed for the beach somewhere that has malaria bearing mosquitoes. Does any sensible person believe that the CDC, doctors, and drug manufacturers would recommend a drug for vacationers, including their children, that had such a high risk it was too risky for CIA agents?

One drug costs $1 a pill and the other costs $1,000 a pill. Guess which one the media likes.

Indeed. Reminds me of a few weeks ago "Hey, losers, face masks are silly and do no good. Besides, we desperately need each one for medical staff and first responders." Followed by: "As governor I hereby order all to wear a face mask to go food shopping." And state ordered stay at home shelter in place mandates will end soon but you will have to wear a face mask in public. Or face arrest.
