More than 100 demonstrators gathered in Huntington Beach Friday, defying social distancing guidelines, to protest Californias stay-at-home order.
The rally comes a day after the city announced that it was closing off all metered parking along the Pacific Coast Highway to limit beach visitations amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Protestors most of whom were not wearing masks could be heard chanting, No foreign vaccinations in the downtown beach area at Main Street and Walnut Avenue.
Were here in defiance of Gavin Newsom and his socialist agenda to ruin our economy, said a man hosting a livestream of the event on Facebook. Were definitely not practicing social distancing, which is all right in my book. Believe in Jesus you wont fear death.
Demonstrators could be seen holding up signs that read, Liberate Huntington Beach, Open Cali Now, Let us work, Pandemics does not cancel our constitutional rights!! and COVID-19 is a lie.
Many signs endorsing President Donald Trump were also visible, along with American flags.
American flag in hand, Becky Walker Fagernes attended the protest because she believes her rights are being taken away.
Theyre holding us hostage for no reason. The virus is not true. I mean, its true, but its not like a pandemic, she said. We think its New World Order trying to take over.
Fagernes added that she believes she had the virus back in November like 90% of Californians.
Im not gonna wear a mask. Im not gonna be a sheep, she said. Its just like you having a chip. If you dont wear a mask you dont get to do things.
oting a Live Free or Die sign, 62-year-old Paula Doyle, a Costa Mesa resident, told the Los Angeles Times that she was sick of social distancing.
I dont think theres any reason for us to be on lockdown now, she said. We didnt have any dangers; we have no danger in our hospitals now of overflowing.
Chief Robert Handy of the Huntington Beach Police Department said hes disappointed with the gathering and officers find themselves caught in between expression of free speech and maintaining public safety.
We as police officers signed up for this and there are times when we are exposed to risks, he said.
The Huntington Beach pier, beach parking lots and grass areas were also recently closed to limit people from gathering. While most Southern California beaches were shut down due to the ongoing pandemic, Huntington Beach had kept its coastline open.
Protests against stay-at-home guidelines have popped up across the country in recent days, including in Oregon, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Minnesota, North Carolina and Utah. In Michigans capital, Lansing, protestors blocked traffic and honked horns on Wednesday, drawing national media coverage. Security without liberty is called prison, read a giant banner hung in front of the Capitol building.
Similar protests are slated for Los Angeles, Riverside and San Clemente in coming days.
President Donald Trump took to Twitter Friday, urging residents to LIBERATE Minnesota, Michigan and Virginia states led by Democratic governors. He demanded the lifting of stay-at-home orders and apparently endorsed the growing number of protests against restrictions aimed at stopping COVID-19, the Associated Press reported.
By the way, Huntington Beach is nice...You will not run into too many homeless people near the beach...It is not like Venice Beach...

SIC SEMPER TYRANUS!
Good for them!
Sorry to repeat myself on various threads, but it needs to be said that every prediction about death and pestilence from this bug has been WRONG! And yet politicians are still making decisions and taking away our freedoms based on these bogus predictions! This sh*t needs to end now! We are witnessing Governors and Mayors drunk with power!
I hope these mass protests ramp up! What are they going to do...arrest us all? This sh*t is getting ready to come to head, and these delusional politicians can’t see it! They had better cone back down to reality and realize, we aren’t going to live like this for too much longer!
these shut downs and mandatory masks laws as usual only apply to those working middle class tax payers and people realize this. these leftwing loons allow anyone to slither into their cities and make them sanctified, the thugs in places like DC, Detroit and Chicago aren’t paying attention to ANY laws whats so ever let alone staying 6ft apart. These people make it spread more then they get to roam free protected.
Take a broad tipped sharpie and put any of the following on a mask:
MAGA
TRUMP 2020
FU Wuhan
FU Falci
FU Gov
FU China
HIV+
In less than a week America will be unmasked!
When I went to Huntington Beach as a teenager in 1966, I stood on the seawall overlooking the beach, and looked left and right.
There were more beautiful women within my view than there were in the whole state of Oklahoma.

One thing I thought I noticed in Michigan is from drone shots found NOT on the media you could easily see that the people who were out of their cars were still in their 4 or 5 person clusters that pretty obviously were from the same home (Mom, Dad, etc.). But for some reason the images the media showed were all ground level shots that made it look like one big crowd.
Typical media disinformation.
