THE corpse of a blind boy has been found in his mother's car months after he disappeared and she claimed he had gone to live with his father.
Sagal Hussein, 26, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, was arrested on March 30 because of inconsistencies in her story and her refusal to cooperate with a police search for five-year-old Josias Marquez. Police obtained a warrant to search her home and vehicle, and a decomposed body of a boy was found in her car the following day.
An autopsy has now confirmed that the body was that of Hussein's missing son.
A search was first launched for Josias after neighbours contacted authorities because they could see Hussein's other two children outside her property unsupervised.
When deputies arrived the children, then six, said that Hussein had left the previous evening and they didn't know where she was.
Hussein later claimed that she had only been away from the house for 40 minutes.
The children were taken into care by Child Protective Services, at which point it was discovered that Hussein had a third child, Josias.
Officials were unable to find anyone except Hussein who said they had seen the boy any later than November 25 last year.
Hussein told cops that the boy was with his father in a different state, but declined to provide any contact details.
Speaking to Fox11, Hussein's mother, Ismal, said she didn't know why her daughter had told police Josias was with his father.
She said Josiass dad "wasnt a caring dad and he wasnt doing his part as a dad".
"What I know is my daughter, Sagal... she was a loving mother and she didnt kill her own son and what I believe is it was not her intention to hurt or kill her own child," she said.
After her initial arrest, Hussein was facing charges of child neglect and forgery.
Prosecutors said they intend to wait until an official cause of death for Josias has been established before filing formal charges.
Hussein has been held on a $500,000 cash bond since a probable cause hearing on April 1.
Her next court appearance is scheduled to take place on April 29.
The two remaining children are reported to have been taken into foster care.
Hussein appeared in Brown County Court on Wednesday, though no formal charges have yet been brought in connection with Josias's death.

Yes, and her trial, conviction, and execution should be carried out before the end of the month. No consideration of “motive” and no appeal of the verdict.
Hmm, what’s the old phrase from India, ears covered a Sikh, ears exposed a Muslim.
