South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem pushed back on critics questioning her decision to leave her state open during the coronavirus pandemic.
Noem is one of a handful of governors to leave her state open during the pandemic. While there have been 1,311 cases of coronavirus and seven related deaths, many have claimed Noem is taking dangerous actions by letting the people of South Dakota decide how to care for themselves. During an interview on Fox News, Noem defended her decisions.
"Weve got one issue in a pork processing plant in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, but outside of that, two-thirds of our state has no cases or one case in an entire county. So we are doing very well as a state," Noem explained. "We are addressing the one hot spot that we do have and aggressively testing in that area, but what you talked about Laura is exactly right."
She continued, "We should be tracking whos in the hospital, what the death rate is, and South Dakotans are doing a fantastic job following my recommendations, and we've been able to keep our businesses open and allow people to take on some personal responsibility."

Keep your eye on Kristi Noem. This is her rising star moment.
Not to be confused with Karen Whitmer from Michigan.
Thanks gov, ‘cause YOU’RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME EITHER!!
One of my biggest disappointments in life was learning that Kristi Noem was already married. :-)
Personal responsibility? What a concept. Whereas in Michigan and other states, the governors take all the responsibility . . . AWAY from you.
She can boss me around all she wants. LOL.
Finally, a real leader.
AMEN! Like during TB epidemic not too long before I was born. Like Polio when I was a kid. Like AIDs. We didn’t close down the globe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Karen” Whitmer! LOL!
She is right ....
She’s got more brains and *alls than the ones forcing their occupants into solitary confinement(aka stay at home “orders”).
‘One of my biggest disappointments in life was learning that Kristi Noem was already married. :-)’
yep, she’s hot, alright...
People in this state of suspended animation are seeing reality before their eyes. The pandemic has given us all the opportunity to see what our political class is doing good and bad. For those of us that are not blinded by stupidity and talking points with no facts, we are awakening.
the two could not be more different....it’s almost like they are from different planets
I posted the following on another site this morning. As we open up America, this applies to all states:
Our local newspaper reported this morning that 126 people in LONG TERM CARE FACILITIES (LTCF) in Florida had died of corona virus.
Florida currently has 668 total corona deaths.
Thus, LTCF patients account for 19% of the deaths in Florida.
So I did some research and found that in Florida-
There are 691 licensed nursing homes in Florida, representing approximately 84,448 beds (Source: Agency for Health Care Administration). The estimated number of residents is 71,000 (roughly 85% occupancy at any given time)
https://www.fhca.org/media_center/long_term_health_care_facts/
Floridas population is 22 million. So the 71,000 people in LTCF represent .032% of the total population.
Thus, we have .032% of the population accounting for 19% of the deaths.
The American Public needs to know the demographics of the people who have died from corona virus.
Conversely, how many employed people have been infected in the USA and how many have died from corona virus?
I suspect it is an extremely small percent of the total population.
We need to get America back to work. One way to do that is to give the American people very clear data on the demographics of the people who have died.
If the numbers show that 99.9% of the American workers have not died from corona virus, then they need to get back to work.
On the other hand the non-workers, especially the seniors and those with underlying health conditions, need to self-isolate and practice a very rigid hygiene protocol.
Together, the workers and non-workers can open up America again.
‘She can boss me around all she wants. LOL.’
how do you think she compares to Rachel Levine...?
I agree. How well she deals with this crisis will determine her political future on the national scene.
Therefore expect the media to go out of their way to highlight every single death that occurs in South Dakota.
