Five tons of the malaria-fighting medication called chloroquine was sent recently from India to Greece, after the Greek government managed to secure this enormous quantity of the drug to equip its National Health Service.
The use of chloroquine has been described by the World Health Organization as promising in combatting the COVID-19 coronavirus.
Chloroquine is a drug that has been tested and its early results suggest that it may have a positive effect on the treatment of patients with coronavirus infection, said Dimitris Philippou, president of the Greek National Medicines Agency, or EOF.
The Greek medical industry has already begun its production of chloroquine as well.
According to Philippou, who spoke on Thursday with the public broadcaster ERT1, the drug will be available as early as tomorrow, Friday, beginning with the countrys hospitals.
Chloroquine, a medication which has been primarily used to prevent and treat malaria, has been on the market since the 1940s.
Greece has 2207 cases and 109 deaths. Portugal which also uses CQ has 18K cases and 629 deaths.
This is far, far lower than in Italy or Spain - and I think (am note sure) that the latter two didn't use CQ.
This is still not conclusively proven to work, but it SEEMS to work - so no harm in using an existing drug with small side effects in my non-medical opinion
HCQ has been a great gift to those who listen to the method of its use. Timing is important. And confusion about the efficacy of HCQ therapy is directly related to the timing issue. The drug must be administered in the early to mid portion of the disease evolution. Early diagnosis is essential.
HcQ therapy includes zinc vitamin supplement along with Azithromycin antibiotic ( Z-Pac). For heart arrhythmia sensitive patients the substitute antibiotic is Doxycycline
The problem is that most doctors will wait to long to use HCQ therapy, they wait for test results before administering HCQ. If the disease is too far developed and the lungs fill with mucus, the HCQ therapy is not as beneficial.
The Covid-19 diagnosis needs to be completed without the test result return by using the symptomatic indicators of breathing, body pain, temperature , and probable infection vector analysis. The HCQ must be administered before the later development of the disease into a temperature spike of up to 104 degrees F, and the lungs quickly fill with mucus.
Either quick testing is necessary, or a symptomatic diagnosis so early administration of the HCQ therapy can begin.
Also the HCQ can be used as prophylaxis by taking 1 220 mg tab of HCQ per day ( Plaquenil), along with a 100 mg Zinc supplement such as Chelated Zinc or Zinc sulfate.
This was developed and used by Dr. Vladimir Zelenko of New York.

Five tons of drugs for 2,207 cases? Something does not add up. Sounds like possession with intent to distribute. A misprint?
This article says they are receiving chloroquine, not hydroxi-chloroquine.
