President Trump threatened on Wednesday to take the unprecedented step of adjourning Congress with his executive powers so he can make recess appointments of stalled nominees.
Speaking at the daily White House coronavirus task force briefing, Mr. Trump said his administration has been hamstrung by a lack of personnel because Senate Democrats have held up nominees.
He criticized the Senate and House for holding phony pro forma sessions, instead of adjourning, which prevents him from making recess appointments.

Don’t threaten Mr. President. Just do it.
Can’t wait! Do it!
I have no problem with it, get it done Mr.President, we are in a war with China and the ‘Rats are our foe’s team.
It’s dead, Jim:
What is McConnell’s reasoning for allowing this to get this far? He is complicit in tying Trump’s hands. What will Mitch say about this?
“..Dont threaten Mr. President. Just do it....”
Exactly. Rest assured, IF the roles were reversed, it would happen in a heartbeat.
“When you gotta shoot, shoot...don’t talk”.. Tuco
The Dems are out and will only have a skeleton crew doing the proforma recess motions.
Yes, Mr. President, do it.
Three years of obstruction justifies an Article 3 adjournment.
That was a different issue, as I recall. Obama didn’t adjourn Congress, he just claimed that their BS pretending to be in session was really a recess, and made appointments. The court said that it is up to the Senate and House to determine if they are in session, the President can’t do that for them. Unless, of course, he uses his Constitutional power to adjourn them. Then it’s not up to them.
Beautiful.

The GOP Senate is run by Mitch, even before Pelosi took over the House the GOP House was hamstringing President Trump.
I don't think the problem is a disagreement between the House and Senate on adjourning.
The day after election: Appoint EVERYBODY in the pipeline. Only if he wins of course.
Outstanding, isn’t it? He called Pelosi’s bluff beautifully.
I got this from the article in post 5.....
The President can make a recess appointment without Senate confirmation when the Senate says it is in recess. But either the House or the Senate can take the Senate out of recess and force it to hold a “pro forma session” that will block any recess appointment. So while the President’s recess appointment power is broad in theory, if either house of Congress is in the hands of the other party, it can be blocked
Joe Biden will not win. Biden is hated by most of the Democrats at Yahoo. When he entered the race, the comments were 90% against him. It was a pleasant surprise.
IMHO, the DNC will have to waddle out Hillary as his VP. That would excite the Democrats.
Guess we’re gonna find out.
What is that from?
I’m not sure. Was wondering that myself. Has to be an old movie.
Just do it. They deserve it.
It reminds me of the pigs from Animal Farm.
