Boating, jet-skiing banned under Michigan stay-at-home order; kayaking allowed
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer extended the state's stay-at-home order on Thursday, and using a motorboat, jet ski or other similar watercraft is not allowed.
The state clarified the order in a FAQ section, asking if boating constituted an outdoor activity.
While physical outdoor activity is allowed, like kayaking, canoeing and sailing, "using a motorboat, a jet ski, or other similar watercraft is not. Any outdoor activity permitted under the order, including boating, must be done in a manner consistent with social distancing, and individuals should use only their own equipment to prevent the transmission of the virus through the touching of shared surfaces."

but nooooo.... If your boat is already in the water ( i had a lakefront cottage at one time, and my boat was in the water as soon as the ice cleared ) you still cannot use it..

Let me see, the state bars me from using my property. Hum, sounds like a taking under the 5th amendment like baring me from the use of something I am entitled to use given similar property is not bared from use.

Every sailboat over 14’ in length has some kind of motor, either gas or diesel to get you to/from the dock or mooring.
I had rare occasion sailed up to the mooring on my fathers 32’ sloop. However, 99% of the time we always turned on the engine and dropped the sails. On the way out, we hardly ever put up the sails until we were well away from the dock or mooring.
I read yesterday about some guy in a small john boat getting ticketed for going out fishing in his little boat.
