With millions of Americans eagerly awaiting their federal stimulus checks to help them weather the the coronavirus recession, people are now able to find out when they can expect to get their money after the government on Wednesday launched a tracking tool called "Get My Payment."
The first batch of stimulus checks - or "economic impact payments," as they are officially known - started hitting consumers' bank accounts on Saturday, the Internal Revenue Service has said. But millions of people remain unsure of when the payments will arrive because it depends on whether the IRS has your direct-deposit information and your income level. Consumers can also update their mailing addresses if they've moved since they last filed their tax returns.
The "Get My Payment" service went live on Wednesday at IRS.gov. It allows consumers to check their payment status, confirm whether they prefer direct deposit or a paper check and enter their bank account information for direct deposit if the IRS doesn't have it yet.
"We expect over 80 million hard-working Americans will get the direct deposit by this Wednesday," Mnuchin said.

...me too
Mine too. Something I didn’t expect, its the full $2400, no taxes taken out. Not sure why but I thought it would be...prolly just my inherent mistrust of the gov. lol
Well, you can always put it a savings account for them.
But after service charges and low to zero interest they would probably be fined for having a negative balance.
Is it based on 2018 tax return?
WaPo has another hit piece out today about how the paper checks are going to be delayed because Trump wants his name on them and it’s so difficult for them to get code right
I wonder if the feds are going to dock the payment for delinquent child support or delinquent student loan payments? I know the IRS will take regular tax refunds and apply the cash to these delinquent balances.
Don't know for sure. It was $2400 ($1200 x 2) and we claimed married filing jointly in 2018...
The IRS has my Social Security Number and my bank account numbers.
My checking account has been open since 1994.
I think i remember the POTUS or somebody fielding a question like that. The answer was it is “outside” of and separate any owed monies.
No money for me in my account this morning. When I went to the new IRS tracking site it confirmed that I was eligible but went to “technical difficulties” when I tried to track the payment. Looks like the system is partially overwhelmed.
I “got my payment” direct deposited this morning. Will my unborn great grand children approve?
...
Tell them it was your tax refund.
I have not fikes 2019 yet and 2018 I am ineligible.
My damn accountant has dissappeared since this whole thing began.
Oh well.
I’m sure a lot of you don’t need it, but I got mine today and I profusely thank President Trump as I haven’t been allowed to work my part time job since 3/15. This will tide me over until I can go back to work. I’m retired but my part time job makes ends meet.
In fact got my monthly SS this morning. FAQ has no entry for "if eligible but did not recieve payment"!
ACH CREDIT IRS TREAS TAX REF ON 04/15 as Reconciled
4,085.15
Placed into my bank account this morning :)
Thank You President Trump!
According to social media, a lot of people from a number of different categories (single, joint, social security recipient, etc.) are receiving that message. Wouldn’t worry too much at this point about them actually needing more info. Probably just some weird temporary error due to it being the first day.
Me, too.
If you file 2019, it’s based on that. Otherwise, 2018.
