The mayor of Auburn is facing backlash and calls for his removal from office following posts and comments he made last week on Facebook, which appeared to compare supporters of President Donald Trump to the Ku Klux Klan amid criticism of the president’s response to the coronavirus.
Dr. Bill Kirby, the mayor of Placer County’s seat and a urologist, announced Monday evening that he intends to hand over the mayoral duties to a fellow council member, Auburn Journal reported.
Kirby allegedly shared a reposted meme last Thursday from his personal Facebook account. The image depicted a hooded KKK member and included the text: “Good news for Trump supporters is that most of them already have masks,” a reference to an increasing number of state and federal guidelines recommending the general public wear face coverings to curb the spread of the coronavirus, which causes the deadly disease known as COVID-19.

If you get away from the Coast, and Sacramento, most of the areas are pretty normal. There were ~12 Congressional seats stolen by the Democrats through 'ballot harvesting' in the last election. Voter theft (enhanced by ballot harvesting, illegals, and plain illegal voting) - which is 'encouraged' by the State - makes the State look worse than reality. If you judge 'reality' by the citizens. If you judge 'reality' by the votes - yeah, we pretty much suck.

Sacramento, San Francisco (Bay Area) and LA. are the liberal pockets of cancer. Most of the rest of the state is conservative. Like most states, farmers and ranchers don’t like big government.

I remember when every small town in California was very conservative. Auburn is still a small town. I don’t know when all these small towns went commie lib.
Placer County has never voted for a Democrat fior President since FDR, as far as I know. Not for Clinton. Not for Obama. Trump whipped Hitlery in Placer County by 51% to 40%.
How did this ass hat get elected Mayor of Auburn? I don’t get it. Is Auburn proper commie lib now? Have that many Sacramento city types fled to Auburn for retirement or commute an hour and a half to work in Sacramento every day?

Really? Auburn is the seat of Placer County. 98K/238K voters, or 40%, are Republicans. Just under 60K rats, about 25%. This compares to 23.5% GOP in the state overall. There are MILLIONS of us behind enemy lines in this state. More people voted for Trump in California than constitute the entire total population of the 26 least-populous states. All that said, Placer County had over 50% GOP registration just ten years ago. As another poster noted, Bay Area rat Vermont have driven down the total, but we’ve still plenty of strength to return the great Tom McClintock to Congress this year
I might be wrong, but I would’ve thought that Auburn, California would be in one of the conservative areas of California (i.e., not on the coast).
Its a nice area though (climate-wise), so maybe some Bay Area refugees have moved into the area - thus downgrading the neighborhood.

My parents live in Newcastle which is a mile or 2 down hwy 80 from
auburn and all the houses around them are being bought up by bay
area transplants. 3 of the most desirable plots on their road were bought
up and the new owners put up giant god awful mansion monstrosities.
Its a crying shame what these bay area losers are doing to what use to be
conservative strongholds like placer and el dorado counties.

As others have said, what IF President Trump really acted like they say he already acts, as, boldly discriminating against African Americans, harshly taking away the rights of women, promoting KKK and other white supremacist behavior, acting like a cruel monarch over hapless citizens.
