The Memo: Speculation grows about Fauci's future
The Hill ^ | April 14 2020 | BY NIALL STANAGE

Anthony Fauci looks to be skating on thin ice with President Trump, despite — or perhaps because of — a growing sense that he is the most trusted expert on the coronavirus crisis.

The White House moved on Monday to squash suggestions that Fauci could be ousted from the president’s task force on the crisis.

And Fauci himself sought to shore up his position during the White House press briefing, when he walked back remarks he had made at the weekend.

During a CNN interview on Sunday, Fauci had suggested that mitigation measures would have been more effective had they been put in place earlier but that there had been “pushback” against them.

After Trump invited Fauci to the lectern within minutes of beginning Monday’s press briefing, the doctor said that his reference to “pushback” was “the wrong choice of words.”

He also said that Trump “went to the mitigation” the first time he was asked to do so.

The remarks came after ominous signs for Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

On Sunday, Trump had retweeted a message that included the words “time to #FireFauci.”

Two Republican lawmakers wrote an op-ed for the Washington Examiner on Saturday asserting that Fauci was guilty of “a special degree of tone deafness” in the way he spoke about the economic toll of the lockdown that has affected the nation.

The lawmakers, Rep. Andy Biggs (Ariz.) and Rep. Ken Buck (Colo.), also wrote that Fauci “can no longer be one of the primary voices in this crisis, especially not after his assertion that the economic effects and devastation from this shutdown are merely inconvenient.”

I think the guy is dirty, way too involved with Gates,
and I'm glad our President has him on a short leash.

personally don’t have much of a problem with this guy. He’s a scientist and views everything through that lens. What’s problematic is that the media, in it’s frenzy to create turmoil, wants to desperately invent a view of conflict between Fauci and Trump that doesn’t really exist. Trump offers hope and leadership. Fauci offers science and caution. Neither conflicts the other unless you view it through the gauzy filter of media manipulation.

I agree. But it would help if he wasn't so eager to let the media guide him into soundbite minefields.

He’s a scientist ....

He is? Then he ought to go do some science, and leave his opinions out of things.

I think he’s being put out there standing with that shit eating puzzled look as he gets publicly demeaned and having to show his true colors. He’ll choke eventually.

This is how I see it.

Fauci is advising Trump on the medical side of things, he give his opinions solely based on that.

The others advise Trump on the economic aspects. Trump takes both sides and makes his decision weighing both.

So it stands to reason that Trump’s decisions won’t exactly match Fauci’s recommendations, because Fauci doesn’t consider the economic side.

Fauci reportedly said “Who needs Brad Pitt? I can play myself in the lead role of “The National Hero Who Hogtied a President: the Coronavirus Victory of Dr. Fauci”. I’m good looking and I have the charisma and the talent. Chicks can’t resist me.”/s

Do not fire him. Promote him to Siberia.

To the in crowd like him, anywhere outside DC and NYC is Deplorables Wasteland Flyover country.

A real punishment would be having him work on residents of Harlem and live there. Talk is cheap for someone like him there. "Did you bring any bribe money? We'll complain to Rev. Jackson or Rev. Sharpton if not."

He’s a scientist and views everything through that lens.

He's a deep state bureaucrat who's been in the same job for 30 plus years. At 79 years of age, one wonders why he's still working.

What's keeping him there? I certainly don't think it's the government salary.

Fauci and his much taller in-crowd leftist friends in photo.

Great picture.

Idea: Like baseball and other sports trading cards, start a series of Deep State and media insider cards. Reverse side can say “Although unqualified was son of insider who worked with publisher at liberal magazine once so he got the DC beat” and “rumor well known that she slept with several top men at network and suddenly got anchor desk job although one year out of school.” How much is a Brokaw or Acosta rookie card going to be worth someday? Don’t let mom throw the cards out.

Collect ‘em, trade’em. We’ll include pink bubble gum. Used to smell so great as a kid to open those packs of baseball cards.

All of his models he relied on have been wrong, not by a little buy by a huge margin. He will say “social distancing” is the reason they were wrong, or have some other excuse. Then he says he doesn’t trust the models, even though he made decisions based on them.

He also says we will have a vaccine in 12-18 months, so in the meantime just hide in you house where it is safe. Just ignore you employer gong under or massive layoffs, the “PAST DUE” notices, etc. It’s for your safety you peasant. And watch, in a year or so they will say, sorry, vaccine still isn’t ready, just wait a few more months.

Fauci (working then with scarf lady) promised a vaccine for HIV in 1996. Still hasn’t happened.
