Bedouin Arabs attack Jewish farmers in Samaria

Cell phone video

Bedouin Arabs on Tuesday morning attacked a Jewish farmer near the town of Rimonim, in Samaria's Binyamin Regional Council.

The Jewish farmer, a resident of the town, saw the Arabs approaching and approached to ask what they needed.

IDF forces arriving at the scene detained the Bedouin Arabs and took them for interrogation.

.....

Honenu attorney Moshe Yado called on the authorities to arrest all of the attackers: "Our concern is that that military and the police will not actually arrest all of the Bedouin rioters, and will not stop the bullying and their violent takeover of the area."

No big deal, but worth noting. Possibly a reaction to corona trouble, possibly the usual fight for turf. Have to make out the words spoken and try to decipher.

Or the farmer didn’t pay them for work. Or they took his truck and didn’t pay. Or whatever.

For the casual reader, some clarity, “Bedouin Arabs” should, in no way, be confused with so-called Palestinians. While they come in all sorts, they are generally Israeli citizens.

Now they were literally a nomadic people, across a land with lots of unfriendly borders. So they tend to be poor (due to poor lifestyle choices and habits) and have all the issues with systemic poverty and poor culture.

But they are seldom political or terrrorists.

I know many a fine and successful Israeli Bedouin.

That was my thought when I read the article. I believe their culture encourages serving in the military of their host country and they serve in the IDF, nachon?

I think you are thinking of Druze.

Plenty of Bedouins do serve in the IDF, but it’s voluntary and more a way to assimilate into society. I don’t think they are subject to the draft. ( I could be mistaken; there was a change recently and I believe Nazarene Arabs are subject to the draft now.)

Thanks. As I understand, Bedouins are not conscripted but some volunteer. Druze and Circassians are conscripted (by their own request). Christian Arabs also volunteer, their leaders want it to be mandatory (for the melting pot), but it is not so yet. I have heard that when one hears of “Muslims” serving in the IDF, they are usually Bedouins.

From SNL back in the early 80s:

Listen to the story about a man named Achmed
Poor Bedouin trying to keep his family fed
Then one day he was shooting at some Jews
Up from the ground comes a bubbling ooze
Saudi soda
Persian Perrier
Kuwait Kool-aid

Next thing you know old Achmed’s a billionaire
Kin folks say “Achmed move away from there”
Said “California is the place to set your lair”
So they got up and they moved to Bel Air
Next to Beverly Hills that is
Swimming Pools
Movie Stars
Jews

The Bel-Airabs!

No more so than a Jewish kid from Tel Aviv.

These are rural people. Comparisons can be made to blacks in the USA, but they are imperfect and incomplete (and often unfair).

Think more Appalachia.

I want there in October. Noticed they raised many goats. Saw few sheep.

Encountered them a few years ago on the way up to Tzefat. They had one huge-ass herd of goats, no sheep, and they were wearing Israeli kibbutz short-shorts, not the expected head to toe get-up, and they spoke fluent Hebrew. As we waited for the herd to cross, we joked with them about buying a couple of goats so we could have lunch.
