Dane County Circuit Judge Jill Karofsky unseated Justice Daniel Kelly in a hotly contested race last week that drew national attention from both major political parties, according to Monday evening reports.
The Wisconsin primary took place on April 7 despite health fears from the coronavirus pandemic, which led to a surge in absentee ballots that delayed the results for about a week.
While the race was technically nonpartisan, Karofsky drew support from national Democrats, while the GOP fell in line behind Kelly, who was appointed to the court in 2016 to fill a vacancy and was running for his first full term.

how did they blow this one?
Well, you get what you vote for (and deserve it...)
which led to a surge in absentee ballots that delayed the results for about a week...
Any chance to fool around with those or do you think it was up and up?
Didn't delay the election would be my guess.
Is this a sign of things to come? Seems we keep losing races! Sad and damn!! The rats are on a tear!
Really? A lot of phantom ballots were involved according to what I read.
Somehow the votes in the past 2 years start out being republican and long after the voting is closed it turns out to be very democrat. Not sure how they do that, but its happened a few times in a row now. It happens in Milwaukee but mostly in Madison.
Nice going....cheese heads. Wait until the court flips then turn your guns in.
Good and Hard.
If so, once again we get bent over!! OUR RNC STINKS!! At least the rats fight when they lose a close one!!
Wisconsin is a state Trump needs to carry in November. Democrats are doing too well for my liking in statewide elections.
Another ‘close’ one that the Democrats won by finding late ballots.
The election was held last week, but results werent released until Monday because courts allowed clerks to count absentee ballots that arrived as late as Monday, provided they were postmarked by election day if they arrived after then
Should fight it down to walking each vote to the voter and asking them if this is their ballot.
It was a contested RAT primary and an Uncontested GOP primary.
Much ado about nothing.
This is also why Bernie waited to drop out until Wednesday.
Bernie stayed in just to affect the outcome in this race.
Notice they were teeing up the lawsuits by complaining about the process. The media dutifully reported people grousing about risking their lives with others being disenfranchised. The professional rent-a-protesters were out on election day yelping about the unfairness of holding an election during a pandemic. Karofsky herself declined to say if she would mount a legal challenge.
Watch now as all the complaints, outcry, and threats of legal action just melt away. Watch.
