...some people of color say they wont be wearing homemade masks for fear they could be perceived as criminals....
[Aaron] Thomas wrote that hed planned to cover his face with an old bandanna to run to the grocery store, but thought better of it, writing that for him, the fear of being mistaken for an armed robber or assailant is greater than the fear of contracting Covid-19.
...."I do not trust that I will be allowed to exist in my Black skin and be able to buy groceries or other necessities without a confrontation and having to explain my intent and my presence. I do not trust that wearing a make-shift mask will allow me to make it back to my home.

Unbelievable. Turn a public health recommendation into a racism issue.
Tiresome.

How dopey. Two days ago, I was putting a mask over my face and pulling gloves on before walking into the supermarket, and I thought, "Two months ago, I would have been arrested at the door."
It's a different world. It doesn't matter what color you are. Put your mask on and quit whining.

If I might..., exactly whose fault is it that certain races are treated with suspicion? I mean, maybe if the focus was directed toward the perpetrators instead of those who hold the suspicions, we might have progress.
And this includes the BLM crowd too. I mean, the people who murder African-Americans are, overwhelmingly, African-American.

Fearing being mistaken for criminals, people of color shy away from homemade face masksAnd the Miami Herald does not see that it's headline is racial stereotyping and is the height if pandering to the deranged sycophant minions.

It’s probably racist of me to make this observation, but I was just out of the house on an essential errand (really), and my purely anecdotal, unscientific observation is that there is a disparity of mask wearing among different (percieved) racial groups.
It seemed that plenty of black, white and Latino people were wearing masks. The only stand-out I saw was every single Asian person I saw was wearing a mask of some kind.
