Map of the river. I forget how large an area that this border covers - it stretches a few hundred miles and across a few centuries.

Very stark but picturesque area. Would love to visit one day.

Smooth flat lake, reminds me of our northern states or the Canadian plains.

Way too much vodka being consumed to even think this has any chance...

“if they turn Kirkenes into the “Singapore of the Arctic” as they hope, it will be even bigger ships that will come ashore at the end of the Pasvik River, maybe Chinese ships, after crossing the Northern Sea Route, that connects Asia to Europe via northern Russia, shortening the journey time compared to the journey via the Suez Canal as global warming causes the melting of the ice pack.”

Ornamental door, Kirkenes, Norway, with the inscription in Chinese: “The northernmost Chinatown in the world”.

Speaking of Finland, I’m really fascinated with this place, I wonder if any Freepers have been there.

(After all, what could go wrong?)

Keep out the ChiComs with tactical nukes, if you have to. To get your mind around why, think of the ChiComs as a virus.

Today, that shouldn't be hard.

I'm presently watching Bordertown (Finnish TV series).

My mother has DNA haplogroup 'V' as do 52 % of the Skolt Sami

Benjamin franklin was a Sami.

A lot of our brave men died to bring war supplies to Murmansk, which is here, during WWII.

This would be the kind of place Bald and Bankrupt could do a YouTube account of.

Another reason to visit Finland is that you can take a ferry from Helsinki to St. Petersburg without needing a Visa.
