Buster Dog,

Can you find the numbers of deaths in 2019 over the same period as coronavirus?

I would be interested in comparing them side by side.

Thanks for the information.

Wow, a 50:1 spread. Haven’t read it, but I’m pretty sure I know which areas are hardest hit...and why.

Just quarantine NY City and we’ve solved half the problem.

Their presentation of data is ridiculous. It’s presented on an absolute case number basis.

It should, at a minimum, be on a state per-capita basis.

Even better, the data should be recast and presented using Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) and “Rest of State” (I.e., people living outside the MSAs).

It’s almost like they want to hide something by presenting the data as they do. 😚

No, I don’t think they’d have the 2020 numbers, yet, states may have reported them to the Feds for the first three months, but I doubt they’d have been compiled for reporting.

The Slimes has done a better presentation of the data.

These peeps are totally unnecessary much less just non-essential.

We NEVER hear about the hack judge that tossed Trump’s travel ban which allowed thousands of people to pour into NY in the two weeks it took to overturn him.

**************

It could be that, or perhaps its just typical bureaucratic incompetence, arrogance and ineptitude.

The government seems to be loathe to present anything in a clear, concise way that can be easily understood.

They work for us (in theory) but they don’t seem to be interested in communicating to us.

We should line up the people in NY infected by the influx and have them give that judge a big ‘ol smooch!

Yes. This data begs for maps by county or zip code.

MD gov (RINO Trump hater) has a heavy shut down for the entire state even though the nine or so counties farthest from central Maryland (Baltimore/DC corridor) have few cases and ZERO deaths. People who live in the mountains of western MD or on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay have already chosen social distancing as their lifestyle but they too risk a $5,000 fine if they leave their homes for an unauthorized activity.

What is happening to our country?

There are some good COVID dashboards out there.

Santa Clara County, CA is using Microsoft Power BI:
COVID-19 Cases, Hospital, and Laboratory Testing Dashboards

Idaho is using Tableau (acquired by Salesforce.com):
COVID-19 in Idaho

What good dashboards are FReepers seeing? Anything good at your county and state level?

Indeed. Which judge was that? Would make excellent argument regarding judicial over-reach.

I’m going from memory. Hard to keep track, there have been so many whack-a-mole Judges Trump has had to deal with that I can’t remember them all.

It is presented on a per-capita basis - technically, Cases per 100,000 population.

My experience with the CDC site is that basic states, like just what % of Americans have an STD (I have an extensive collection stats), are not stated, but the site is a labyrinth of a mass of data.

But this paragraph is interesting:

As of April 7, a total of 395,926 COVID-19 cases were reported in the United States (Table). Cases were reported by all 50 states, DC, NYC, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Two thirds of all COVID-19 cases (66.7%) were reported by eight jurisdictions: NYC (76,876), New York (61,897), New Jersey (44,416), Michigan (18,970), Louisiana (16,284), California (15,865), Massachusetts (15,202), and Pennsylvania (14,559) (Figure 1). The overall cumulative COVID-19 incidence in the United States was 119.6 cases per 100,000 population on April 7 (Table). Among jurisdictions in the continental United States, cumulative incidence was lowest in Minnesota (20.6) and highest in NYC (915.3). Nine reporting jurisdictions had rates above the national rate: NYC (915.3), New York (555.5), New Jersey (498.6), Louisiana (349.4), Massachusetts (220.3), Connecticut (217.8), Michigan (189.8), DC (172.4), and Rhode Island (133.7).

Total US Deaths in March 2020 are Actually Down 15% from Average of Prior Four Years is at least partially due to liberally assigning death to Covid, as is increasingly reported.

"Total US Deaths in March 2020 are Actually Down 15% from Average of Prior Four Years is at least partially due to liberally assigning death to Covid, as is increasingly reported."

It's a well known issue that there is a weeks long ever present lag on death counts reported.

From the pop-up that you have to click "okay" on before even entering the website:

"Collection of complete data is not expected at the time of initial report, and a reliable percentage of deaths due to P&I is not anticipated at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services region or state level within this two week period. The data for earlier weeks are continually revised and the proportion of deaths due to P&I may increase or decrease as new and updated death certificate data are received by NCHS."

That doesn't fit the narrative that the media company who published that story wants to convey, though, so they just ignored it. You can bet that they know they are being deceitful, though.
