The actions were successful, even in NYC. They were so successful, that we now have a nation of ingrates complaining.
I'd prefer to think of it as a bunch of skeptical liberty-loving Americans looking at it and smelling a rat because if all of these people were really so damned smart there is no way that the models could have been off by THAT much.

Nuisance is an impaired diver in the Governers seat. He is drunk on power.

I don't know what's going on in California. But what's going on here in NY is this. Last week, Darth Vader came down from planet Vulcan and told me that if I didn't get 30,000 ventilators, he'd melt my brain. But my God! A miracle happened. We don't need any new ventilators after all!

NYC should be sent a bill for all the services they demanded and did not need or use.

For all the belly-aching about ventilators from our nation's governors, has any state actually run out of them? I would think that is doubtful since POTUS said yesterday they have so many they are now sending them to other countries.

Yes but people comunicating using back channels to work around government is what happens in countries that are not free.
Which one do we have now predominantly?
America is almost unrecognizable these days. You see glimpses now and again around Trump.

Exhibit A: Anthony Fauci. 52 years of being continually wrong about things and not once held to account.

To be fair, Italy got hit a lot sooner than we did and the generally cramped living conditions in Europe means that that crap spread like wildfire. US cities are generally not so close quarters and suburbs even less so. We don’t use mass transit like Europe does either. The ones that are more dense and do use public transport extensively were far more likely to get hammered, and cities like NYC did.
Italy didn’t get the advantage of as much lead time as we did, and they weren’t paying much attention, unlike our President. They probably initially dismissed what they were seeing as just a bad flu season, not the ‘Chinese virus’... only to find out to their horror that it wasn’t when people started having respiratory failure.
Italy also has a much higher percentage of elderly than we do, and their elderly are generally more fragile than ours are (for various reasons that would take forever to go into, even before we talk about their socialized medical system). They *may* have had so many people decaying so quickly that they may not have had a choice.

Only about being lied to (manipulated?), rights violated and the economy ruined for a fatality count that may not even reach the high end of a seasonal flu.

...For all the belly-aching about ventilators from our nation's governors, has any state actually run out of them?... Not only has no state run out of them, but as far as I can tell no US patient who has needed a ventilator has been denied one.
President Trump has done a masterful job of managing the national stockpile of all medical equipment while detractors continue to snipe at him.
To: Madam Theophilus
Exactly right. Sadly, we had to wait until we had a lot of cases in this country before we could get even basic information about this ChiCom Bio-weapon.
China deliberately lied about everything: the ability of the virus to spread among humans, the disease progression, treatment efficacy, R0, everything.
Italy seems to have just been unable to figure out a treatment regime, plus they are cooking their own books. But I don’t blame Italy: We need to keep the focus on the real villians: the CCP.

As with most things about this situation, it is obvious unnecessary panic was caused. The article says CA is using 32% of its ventilators, here in PA the number is 28% in use, ONLY 12% FOR VIRUS CASES. Even NY apparently admits they have plenty.
Somehow we need to start getting real info, not wild projections from panic mongers.

I know someone who worked with Fauci during the AIDS epidemic. He is a squirrel-sized sky-is-falling bureaucrat who was telling everyone at the time that they would all die if they had sex. Normal sex.
Now he's telling everyone they will die if they breathe in within 3 feet of another human being.
It's time for Squirrel Man to retire.

However, to go from estimates of 1-2.2 million fatalities, to 100K-240K, to 80K, to 60K in less than two weeks? To go from field hospitals and hospital ships being set for patients to now those hospitals being dismantled, ventilators from California, Washington and NY being sent to other places and the ships being greatly underutilized? In such a short period of time? Highly suspect. There are 3 types of liars; liars, damn liars and statisticians" Statistics are only useful, when you know the whole story behind, how and why those numbers came into existence. Cui Bueno or who benefitted from the bad/horrible stats?

Someone should extrapolate that trend line. Let’s model the modelers.

The US government has contracted with GM to produce 30,000 ventilators for a total cost of $489.4 million (about $16K each).

80% of patients put on a ventilator die.”””
What is the death rate for those NOT put on ventilators?
