OK, so whats going on with Californias ventilator supply?
California hospitals are using around 32% of their ventilators, with 8,000 remaining unused, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Thursday in the latest development in a saga thats been giving many of us whiplash. Two weeks ago, the state said it was rushing to procure 5,000 ventilators. Monday, Newsom sent 500 ventilators to other states. Wednesday, surprised and frustrated Riverside County officials said the state recently denied their request for 500 ventilators. Meanwhile, Santa Clara County is offering $1,000 for each ventilator it receives.
Newsom defended his decisions Thursday. He pointed out that the state has additional ventilators on top of those in hospitals, it is procuring and refurbishing more, and it will get back those that were lent.

I think thats a good thing
I think that is a good thing too. It shows the public Health measures are working to keep things contained. I all think the drugs are working too.
80% of patients put on a ventilator die.
Or that it was way overhyped, overestimated, and overplayed.
Now the data coming out indicates that intubating people and putting them on ventilators was the wrong thing to do for most cases. Will we hear the Democrat media hop all over Gov. Cuomo for not waiting for the science and causing deaths? Of course not. Pres. Trump saved lives by publicizing the benefits of HCQ, and they savagely attacked him. Those who are alive today and their families will seldom have their stories told. Shameful.
Cuomo raised hell over the need for 40,000 ventilators, new hospitals, a ship etc etc....and most of his ravings and cravings can be logged in as “surplus”. Notice he’s dropped the word apex....using as if he’s got a PHD in Mathematics.
I disagree. People are doing there utmost to follow Trump’s recommendations and the drugs are also helping. Hell they have even figured out how to save 40 percent of people on ventilators instead of the 20 percent.
Maybe they should have tried the Malaria cocktail. It’s just wrong that folks could not and cannot get this med.
I don’t disagree, however, to go from estimates of 1-2.2 million fatalities, to 100K-240K, to 80K, to 60K in less than two weeks? To go from field hospitals and hospital ships being set for patients to now those hospitals being dismantled, ventilators from California, Washington and NY being sent to other places and the ships being greatly underutilized? In such a short period of time? Highly suspect.
Italy: First response is to put the patient on a ventilator.
USA: Last response is to put the patient on a ventilator.
Occam’s Razor?
Cuomo can invade CA and take them....
Yes, highly suspect! The US received false information both on the nature of the virus and how to treat it. However, our doctors and ICU staff have figured out how to handle cases. Close relative is an ICU/ER doctor on the west coast and is part of a medical internet group helping NY doctors. NY doctors are giving feedback so that information is spreading all across the country.
This is what it means to live in a free county. People are allowed to think for themselves and communicate directly with each other without government oversight or oppression.
Newsom is up to something. His wish list is too long to be playing nice.
You know how the democrats and media will use that.

For all the belly-aching about ventilators from our nation's governors, has any state actually run out of them?
THIS.
I dont disagree, however, to go from estimates of 1-2.2 million fatalities, to 100K-240K, to 80K, to 60K in less than two weeks? ...
I think this was all put in motion watching uncontrolled outbreak in Italy. The determination was to NOT see people left to die in the halls, untreated. No “model” was going to tell you what steps to take.
The actions were successful, even in NYC. They were so successful, that we now have a nation of ingrates complaining.
I have never been happy with the “ventilator” solution. I am glad new treatments are coming on line and alternatives to the ventilator. I don’t blame leadership, however, for gearing up the only tool they knew.
Thumbs up to your comment.
I hope it means the HCQ protocol is being used before patients get really bad and we just aren’t hearing about it.
And CA shut down very early in the game, doesn’t have public transportation like NYC and the circulating D3 levels in the general population are probably much higher.
There is some indication that they are more harmful than helpful in most cases.
