Jimmy Dorsey did this version of “So Rare” in 1957. A song that had been around for awhile, but he did a fabulous job with it, and it went ballistic on the old “Hit Parade”. As a kid ten years old at the time I loved the song, and always remembered it throughout my life. Great to find it at youtube.

My wife, and I made it our song, and so it’s been for 42 years.

Great song by Van the Man, with lots of symbolism.

As I understand this song, the 'threshold' is the opening to heaven. He is "standing in the darkness waiting at the door and I don't want to wait no more (to enter heaven):

Dweller on the Threshold - Van Morrison
