The INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is temporarily closing most of its facility due to a mass decline in patients, it confirmed on Wednesday.
The postponement of non-emergent surgeries and procedures, according to the hospitals statement, has led to a declining census at both facilities. Therefore, to better consolidate resources, the bulk of the 238-bed acute-care facility is temporarily shutting down, with the exception of the emergency room and some Radiology and infusion services, according to KFOR.
Last month, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt (R) issued an executive order postponing all elective surgeries and minor medical procedures through the beginning of April. However, the state is not formally under a statewide stay-at-home order.
As of Thursday morning, Oklahoma had 1,524 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and 79 related deaths.

I’m guessing during the Spanish Flu this didn’t happen a lot.
Whitmore : The doctor seems reluctant to discuss his medical experiences.
Dr. Hackenbush : Well, medically, my experiences have been most unexciting. Except during the flu epidemic.
Whitmore : Ah, and what happened?
Dr. Hackenbush : I got the flu.
It is only the Portland Ave - Deaconess Campus that is temporarily closing. It houses day surgery units and some infusion services. The emergency room and infusion unit will remain open. The main Integris Hospital is about 1/2 mile away and is still open for business.
Ah, the joys of centralized control. Even if there’s a huge need in some places, the dictates for supply are one size fits all, even where there is only a small need.
Very interesting graph.
my hospital has a very low census....I’m sure its true most everywhere......dirty little secret ....don’t tell the fearmongers that staff is being told to stay home....
It’s happening in Humboldt county California too. We’ve had 50 cases and three hospitalizations and are laying people off at the hospital.

My daughter works at the Hospital in Havasu, they are laying people off too, nothing that isn’t life threatening going on.
Many, many med centers, large and small, face bankruptcy over this insanity. Thanks, President Fauci, Rasputin to Trump.
That looks a lot bigger than 238 beds.
one of the long-term effects of the chinese virus is the stigma that will be attached to hospitals
drop in hospital visits and volume are going to drop steeply after this is over triggering closures particularly for rural, community hospitals and a new more aggressive wave of consolidation, M&A activity
coupled with increased regulatory requirements for stockpiling of supplies, financial disaster is looming.
Could nursing staff from that facility or system be deployed to help Detroit MI and adjoining areas instead? They are getting absolutely crushed in some locations there. Those patients are heavy and labor intensive to care for with all the protective gear protocols.
Cal has contacted over 25,000 retired drs and nurses to se if they want to work. They can work near their homes.
Rule #1 of the multiverse: Everything libs/progesssives touch - EVERYTHING - turns to shi...er...Obama.
Another of their “we’re superior and know more than you do” predictions about hospitals being over run. Even NYC hospitals are working hard, but nowhere near being full.
Democrats/swamp dwellers - Always bad, always wrong, and always deserving of the guillotine.
Don’t tell jsoltzen - he says his 3,236 relatives are all in medicine and they are working 52 hours a day with Coronavirus patients stacked 8 high on their shoulders.
If they can't do elective stuff....the Hosp. cannot make money
Slim profit margins....
“Rule #1 of the multiverse: Everything libs/progesssives touch - EVERYTHING - turns to shi...er...Obama”.
That’s exactly right. Every Single Thing They Touch Turns To Obama.
And we suffer the consequences.
This is what happens when hysteria takes over the brain. Reason leaves. I’m not blaming the hospital. I’m blaming the prediction of millions of people dead.
