Research indicates the majority of coronavirus cases in New York trace back to Europe, with the first cases circulating in the area by mid-February.
“The majority is clearly European,” Harm van Bakel, a geneticist at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, who co-wrote a study currently awaiting peer review, told the New York Times.
A separate research team at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, studying different cases but also analyzing coronavirus genomes taken from New Yorkers beginning in mid-March, reached similar conclusions, the Times reported.
The virus is believed to have originated in a wet market in Wuhan, China, and President Trump has frequently touted his order on Jan. 31 barring foreign nationals who had been in China in the past two weeks from entering the U.S., but New Yorkers had already been traveling home from Europe when the president barred travel from most of Europe as Italy became the epicenter for the virus on the continent.
Adriana Heguy, a member of the N.Y.U. team, told the Times that the research backed up the notion that the U.S. could have contained the outbreak if officials had not limited early testing to just people traveling from China with symptoms.

This is a media head fake designed to attack Trump. They buried the lede, saying that the virus was believed to have originated in Wuhan. New York got it from Wuhan via Europe. So what?
The 59 people in Leavenworth County, KS who have contracted the virus probably got it from Wyandotte and Johnson Counties, part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. Should we call our coronavirus the Kansas City Virus?

Here’s the bottom line: This virus is mainly affecting urban African Americans and other minorities, virtually all of whom have multiple (often untreated) underlying conditions, and super-senior whites who live in nursing homes and have pre-existing morbidities. We are shutting our country down because 25 square miles of the US is having a problem (NYC, northern NJ, Detroit, NOLA, etc.). Literally 25 square miles of our country has an issue, and we are shutting down all 50 states. In 45 plus states, if “coronavirus” had never been mentioned by the medical community and media, NOBODY would notice anything unusual. For example, California has 400 deaths in a state with 40 MILLION people. The Dakotas have under 10 deaths. Kentucky, where half the population smokes because its a tobacco state, there are less than 60 deaths. We need to open this country up for business and tell urban,unhealthy communities to shelter in.

Italy has a lot of Chinese workers. China’s been buying into Italy.
Stories about the source of Italy’s problem have been around for weeks.

And, after the Napoleonic wars, England imported a lot of Italians as factory labor. Their hygiene standards weren’t up to pre-Pasteur Britain, and a number of epidemics hit the factory areas. Damn unwashed penny-licks...

And the message they are telling me from both of those supposed studies is that Trump didn't stop the infection from Europe.
I pointed out them last night, that the NYU Langone "study" was done by a principle investigator who has a long social media history of being an anti Trump, pro Liz Warren, and pro Hillary, Democrat nut. And I pointed out to them that NYU has a very profitable campus in China, and that one of the investigators in the study is a Chinese national.
I have not yet to examine the second study.
But make no mistake about it, they will circulate this story far and wide.
Yesterday's story about the NYU study was being pushed by Bloomberg, and we all know his history with China. And of course NYU has a big campus in China. And the chief investigator has a long trail in social media of loud support for the Democrats and against Trump.
This is all well coordinated
