New research indicates that the coronavirus began to circulate in the New York area by mid-February, weeks before the first confirmed case, and that travelers brought in the virus mainly from Europe, not Asia. “The majority is clearly European,” said Harm van Bakel, a geneticist at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, who co-wrote a study awaiting peer review. A separate team at N.Y.U. Grossman School of Medicine came to strikingly similar conclusions, despite studying a different group of cases. Both teams analyzed genomes from coronaviruses taken from New Yorkers starting in mid-March.

The analysis, at this point, of racial or ethnic group susceptibility to this virus is, I believe, meaningless. But racial or ethnic group infection does provide forensic data as to its origin and spread.
It’s also more important, at this point, that they attended the New Orleans Mardi Gras festivities, than that they like fried foods.

But perhaps more lethal strains somehow released in Europe and NY. Could explain why less problematic on the West Coast.
Perhaps overseas travelers will have their new normal with mandatory health checks and quarantines so the rest of us don’t catch their imported diseases.

The first case here in NH was a male doctor who returned from a trip to Italy. He worked at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinic. This is a major hospital associated with Dartmouth Medical College.
He was diagnosed with Kung Flu and ordered to self isolate. After about a week he attended a hospital party across the river in VT at a bar. There he infected to other attendees. I believe he has since been fired from his medical position.
