Mounds of harvested zucchini and yellow squash ripened and then rotted in the hot Florida sun. Juicy tomatoes were left to wither unpicked in farmers' fields.
Thousands of acres of fruits and vegetables grown in Florida are being plowed over or left to rot because farmers cant sell to restaurants, theme parks or schools nationwide that have closed because of the coronavirus.

This does mean Trump needs to end the lockdown before farmers have to start making decisions on their next round of planting.
Maybe the illegals are too afraid of COVID to leave their homes. :-)
I hope they don’t break your legs too badly.
Were gonna run out of paper :)
" But the U.S. government has a technology, called a printing press (or, today, its electronic equivalent), that allows it to produce as many U.S. dollars as it wishes at essentially no cost. By increasing the number of U.S. dollars in circulation, or even by credibly threatening to do so, the U.S. government can also reduce the value of a dollar in terms of goods and services, which is equivalent to raising the prices in dollars of those goods and services. We conclude that, under a paper-money system, a determined government can always generate higher spending and hence positive inflation."-Ben Bernanke
There is an infinite supply of electrons in the universe. We're not gonna run out of trees!
The Shop and Save just down the Street has Local Produce like really good Cantaloupe,Watermelon thats in a 6 diameter 2 Deep metal Cattle Tank right when you walk in the door. They have a Local Seasonal Vegetable & Fruit area in about 12 long shelf unit. They already had the Best Meats in the area done Old Butcher style Service, Cut and wrapped to Order: Beef, Pork, Lamb, Real Thick cut Bacon & Freshly made Bulk Sausage and Ground Beef, Daily Seasonal Fish & Shellfish. They have been adding floor space to make room for a Wall full of assorted Local, NC & National Wines to choose from. They also have started doing Pizza in the last few months. Already had a Walk in Beer Cooler. 4 multiple pump Gas/Diesel Islands. I actually prefer The Shop and Save a mile down the road over the Grocery Stores. The only problem I see is the Folks on the Nextdoor Neighborhood website SPREADING THE WORD!!! Just Shut Up People !!!
What a waste.First its throwing perfectly good milk away. Now its letting fruits and vegetable rot.Just terrible.
Well they’re not known for being gentle :)
I collected for a shore while in my 20s but never had to hurt anyone.
It’s VERY RARE that violence is needed.
If they didn’t want to pay, at first I would harass them at work so they feared for their jobs and/or let their family know it was prudent to cover the loan for their loved one.
Not my proudest moments
lol
Why aren't they in supermarkets? Just about all of the tomatoes you can get here, even upscale markets like Whole Foods, are from Mexico. Given the fertilizers used in Mexico and the use of produce trucks to smuggle illegal aliens across the border, I try to avoid eating any produce grown in Mexico.
Just an academic question. Do you plow vegetables "over" or "under"?
hopefully the farmers allowed people to go out to the fields to glean the vegetables.
As I said on another thread, I don’t understand why Governors of states (since many are so keen on controlling resources) or Trump administration could not redirect public and private transportation resources to deliver rotting crops, spoiled milk and eggs to food banks...for those who are out of work and rapidly getting out of food?
