Its not pretty down here, said Raye Miller, president of oil company Regeneration Energy Corp. in Artesia. Probably the most activity were seeing now is from folks moving rigs out of the oil fields and into storage yards.

Although unemployment data is not yet available, State Rep. Larry Scott, R-Hobbs, said companies are slashing their payrolls.
Were seeing layoffs, salary reductions and equipment moving back to storage yards, said Scott, a longtime oilman and owner of Lynx Petroleum in Hobbs. I know of several companies that have announced substantial layoffs of 80 to 100 workers.

At least the leftists in NM are down with drilling unlike POTUS wannabe Cuomo in NYS.

The biggest problem you have in New Mexico is that poltroon governor.

Let me guess. The Dims in NM have already spent the money they were going to get from their gas and oil taxes.

It still seems to be blowing and going here in Texas. Everybody is working because they are deemed to be “essential.”

New Mexico oil and gas revenues pay upwards of 35 percent of all state income. In January the economists were predicting a billion dollar surplus and the radical left-wing governor and all Dem legislature put their hatred of the industry aside to sign into law BIG increases in money for educators and other lib-favored causes. Shortly after the legislature went home and she signed the bills, the industry crashed and continues to do so. There are almost no other sources in NM for them to tap for income especially because many are shut down now.
BTW, except for the Las Cruces area, most all the covid-19 cases are in the ABQ/SF area and in northwest NM, likely among the Navajos.
