According to data obtained from the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics Mortality Surveillance System website, total U.S. deaths for the first three weeks of March are DOWN 10% from the average of the prior four years for the same three week period.
The average for weeks 9 through 11 for the four prior years was a total of 170,555 deaths. For weeks 9 through 11 this year, the total is 153,015, meaning 17,540 fewer people died in America during the first three weeks of March than could be reasonably expected. And the gap between historic deaths and weekly deaths is widening. For week 11, just 47,655 Americans died, 8,773 and 15% fewer than the average for week 11 in the prior four years.

Of course the huge rise in deaths did not happen until later March.

There was an earlier article saying they were down 15%. But that was an average. It would be good to know the range.

Sequestration over-achieves.
China has over 250,000 traffic-accident deaths a year.
Ive seen estimates that traffic deaths there are down 50,000 so far this year, due to their lockdown.
Dont tell Cuomo - hell want to ban driving, you know because “every life matters.”
March is not the month to look at. April is where the numbers will be if there is a significant difference.
LOL, I remember that.
I cannot help but wonder whether the US got a “more weaponized” version of the COVID-19 from an angry China.
It’s possible that the virus merely took all of the sick and elderly who were going to die soon anyway and compressed their passing to within a few weeks.
If true we’ll know later in the year when overall death rates drop.
Not surprising at all given that most people are home and most homes are not death traps.
No mystery here. Very few people are driving and the bars are closed.
Just wait until fall. Then we will get our body count when people start getting a vaccine for it......
