WASHINGTON—Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly resigned on Tuesday following an uproar after he excoriated the former captain of the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, whose crew had become stricken with the coronavirus, according to U.S. military officials.

Amazing, isn’t it? Can you imagine Nimitz firing Halsey for busting chops? Never in a million years. But throwing SECNAV under the bus really shouldn’t have been a surprise.

Where did he have to fly to cover the 8000 miles - from where to where? I really don’t know - not a smart remark!! I thought he would have been in DC and I thought the ship was on the West Coast - must not be!

It’s one thing to fire the captain for messing up the way he did, it’s another to publicly fire on him in revenge after the fact.
Trump was right to lean on him to resign, if that’s what happened.

Agree. It amazes me how many Freepers here aren't paying attention to WHO likes Crozier: the media, the effeminate millennials that make up the modern Navy crew, and the Democrat congressmen who are all "outraged" that Crozier was fired and Modly was blunt about why.
If Ted Lieu, Nancy Pelosi, and Dick Blumenthal are on your side, you better look about yourself. Crozier's a bad egg.

And so because of your stupidity and temper former Secretary, the Under Secretary of the Army is coming over to take the reins of the Navy. Chew on that for a while.
And so the Navy is so dysfunctional now, the Under Secretary of the Army is coming over to take the reins at the Department of the Navy. I bet the Admirals are happy with that.
Good Grief, reading that it sounds like Modly and Crozier are both emotionally incontinent bundles of nerves with more personality than common sense.
If the former Secretary talked to them the way he talked about Crozier, they had good reason to hate him.
And Modly was fired not for expressing his concerns but the way he did so. (You can call it a resignation but he knew he would be fired if he didn’t go on his own)
