Trump touts hydroxychloroquine as a cure for Covid-19. Don't believe the hype
The anti-malaria drug could be one of the biggest game-changers, Trump claimed, but there is no magic cure
Faced with a global coronavirus pandemic that is increasingly centered upon the US, Donald Trump has touted several drugs that he claims can help tackle the outbreak.
In March, the US president used a press conference to promote the use of hydroxychloroquine, a common anti-malaria drug, to treat Covid-19, saying: I sure as hell think we ought to give it a try.
Chloroquine: Trump's misleading claims spark hoarding and overdoses Read more He followed this with a tweet that claimed the use of the drug in combination with azithromycin, an antibiotic, could be one of the biggest game-changers in the history of medicine. On Sunday Trump again touted hydroxychloroquine, saying there are some very strong, powerful signs of its potential as a Covid-19 therapy.
Trump has been repeatedly contradicted by public health experts including his own top infectious diseases adviser, Dr Anthony Fauci, who has warned that there is only anecdotal evidence that the drugs could be helpful.
Confronted with this disparity Trump, who has repeatedly made false and misleading assertions throughout the coronavirus crisis, responded by telling reporters that Im a smart guy and Ive been right a lot. The Fox News hosts Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity have been promoting hydroxychloroquine on their shows.

Good God, why do we listen to anything a guy named “Oliver” says. I know it’s probably a “family name”. Last good Oliver in England was Cromwell.
well, UK Manchester Guardian, if it’s worth if to you to help murder tens of thousands of UK citizens with propaganda, misinformation and lies just so you can bad mouth OUR President, then more power to you, BUT we here in the United States of American are happily using the drug as fast as we can get it ...
Yes we do! Just wish some lefty gets cured by taking this. Then I wonder what would be said.
I don’t think the word “cure” was ever used.
“Treatment” yes.
I have a proposal for all commie leftists..if they get the virus, promise NOT to take the drug cocktail, after all it doesnt work right
“YES! Double-blind studies coming right up!” ... with results available in a year or so, many months after C-19 has burned itself like SARS and MERS did, and results of said “studies” are pretty much moot ...
of course, in the mean time, hundreds of thousands of innocents were sacrificed on the alter of “science” while dawdling to obtain absolute “proof” that the cure works ...
sorry, dead people, we “proved” that the cure would have worked if we hadn’t pointlessly denied you having it ...
I have a co-worker who received while hospitalized. His fever immediately broke, and he is back home dealing with a persistent cough.
It willl at least keep people from having to go on those ineffective ventilators!
This is being prescribed to thousands of people even as we speak. They are getting better.
Who the hell is going to volunteer to be in the control group when you are fighting a deadly disease, and a promising treatment is available?
I will bet you Chris C. took it!!
The Guardian is Liberal British Trash....
"The Trump Treatment" or "The Trump Protocol"

Making America Well Again!
It seems almost like they want people to die.......................
It is increasingly centered on the U.S. because the EU is reported as individual countries. If we reported as individual states, then New York would be on the stage well behind Italy, Germany, Spain, and France.
whether a mild-case should take them, is open to discussion, since most mild cases recover nicely anyway without medication. and because there are some possible side=effects from the hq.
Sooner they are healed, the less virus is spread, no?
Goebbels rag Guardian.
There are a few HIV anti-virals that are showing some promise against coronavirus.
The media keeps using the word “cure”. This is inaccurate. It is a treatment to mitigate the severity of the illness allowing a patient to quickly recover or preventing high-risk patients from contracting it as a prophylactic.
Damn the media.
He never said a cure.
