Yes, I understand the logistics. It’s still sad to dump good milk, but I don’t blame the dairies. Again, for centuries people survived without processing plants.

Those are very good points. Sundance at Conservative Tree House has written several informative articles that explains the supply chain. Anyone wanting a better understanding of what is going on with food shortages should read them. Here’s 2 of them:

The distribution network is clogged right now. With reduced staffing almost everywhere off loads are taking longer. With general reduction in retail a lot of stuff just has no where to go. Meanwhile the brokers that arrange load transportation are into serious lowballing right now. Generally offering around 50 cents a mile, which is about half of what most folks need for a run to be profitable. When you lose less money sitting than hauling, things aren’t going to haul.

Maybe tolls for commercial vehicles should be suspended for now.

The price of one gallon of milk in my area has been between $.79 and $1.20 for the last 5 years.

Wow. When I used to deliver milk in '74 it was about 0.74 for half a gallon. Yet people complain about the price of milk anyway despite the far far far greater costs to produce, process, store and deliver it, versus soda.

Discarding milk reminds me of another huge waste of resources....cash for clunkers. Destroying viable cars that also supported a huge parts market just to reduce ounces of air pollutants? Utter bullshit. Think of the energy and materials in the production of just one car, that self appointed environmentalists decided to waste. You may remember that the entire vehicle had to be rendered useless. Some compound would be poured into the oil fill while the running engine seized. Destroying functional autos reminded me of another communist play...destroying Russian crop land.

“...for centuries people survived without processing plants.”

And without government departments lording over us, taxing every step, regulating how we do nearly everything and limiting our choices.

My Gadsden flag has been flying.

My post was about grocery DELIVERY of milk. I don’t think that is fake news (it’s hard to get milk delivered).

I saw this the other day.

It should be ILLEGAL for an industry to throw away food, heck, give it to the gummint and make cheese out of it!
That’s a lot of cheese!
