The Navy captain, who was removed from his command of a coronavirus-stricken aircraft carrier, has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
Two Naval Academy classmates of Capt. Brett Crozier confirmed the diagnosis to the New York Times. Crozier started showing symptoms before his ouster on Thursday, the classmates said. Its unclear when he was tested for the virus, and hes being quarantined at Naval Base Guam.

Irony? Schadenfreude?
Those on his ship thought of him as a hero. It seems some in today’s Navy needs to understand the chain of command, military values, and common sense.
The Captain is having a Terrible, Awful, Horrible week.
What else could go wrong?
As captain he was presumably the “old” guy on the ship (in his 40s) and the one most at risk or real consequences (particularly if HIV-positive gay or otherwise lung, blood pressure, heart or immune-compromised).
He screwed up yes, but it appears he was a regular guy when it came to the crew and well liked so he probably interacted with those that were already positive.
That guy’s photo pinged both the ‘crazy warning’ and the gaydar alarm...
Ever notice, we always hear about when someone in a recognizable position gets this virus, we seldom hear that 3 - 4 days later they are fine ?
The irony!!
Maybe this will teach the sailors that...NO TOUCHY FEELY ON BOARD SHIP.
It seems some in todays Navy needs to understand the chain of command, military values, and common sense.
That’s “Old School” I retired in ‘97 and those values were lost then. :(
Does he really have the virus, or is the Navy making sure that the captain is unavailable for comment for a few weeks?
Wow!
Well I’m going to pray for him then.
He very well was a regular guy but he needed to take the measures he was trained with in dealing with a bio problem plus only communicated in the chain of command. If he did all that he would have protected his crew better and not have been relieved of his command.
This might top that.
And then he will get better and he’ll be okay and all will be fine. Go figure
Later reports have said, no, Harvey does not have the virus.
So I don’t know what’s true. It was a very popular idea at that time with those who dislike him.
“Does he really have the virus, or is the Navy making sure that the captain is unavailable for comment for a few weeks?”
Call it a hunch...
I continue to contend that one of the reasons the captain was removed from the ship was because Naval intelligence wants to get moving onto getting to the bottom of any possibility that this event was a planned covert op to see if it was possible to take a ship offline biologically.
But... their were also lapses in judgement on the part of captain Crozier.
